An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

You can try for compression topped with for more compression. Compression removes a lot of information that the editors need but SC doesn't, and as a result, it is reasonably hard to undo; it serves as an excellent protection as a side effect.

Can I trust someone to lock the map for me? Otherwise I'll just release it as open source. It's all ready to go!

I can lock it for you, if you trust me. I'm an iCCup admin. :)

Its really important guys that you go buy some potions to help you early game. Also, read my advice I wrote on the download page. Its a tough game, and may take you a few tries to win it.

If you have any trouble with TinyMap2 you can always post it in the thread or PM me about it (what Windows version, what goes wrong, and maybe even the map itself). If I can fix TM2 for you then hopefully I can fix it for other people who have the same issue in the future as well. :)

Pretty cool map.

We ran into a few bugs. One of us became invincible and it's also possible to trap the hero when the civilian is following into some narrow space.

Really sorry about the glitches guys, I saw the replay and how frustrating it was for you. As far as I can see, they're the only glitches so far. I'll make sure that in the next version, the villager goes straight to his destination after certain time period. Also, I'll add in a walkthrough guide that I've been meaning to do, so nobody gets stuck. I'll submit next version in next 24 hours.

On our next playthrough Fast Travel stopped working after the first time cast for each of us. The cooldown went to 0 and stayed there.

We also missed the text for the quest where you get the four books, so we're lost there. A quest journal that tells you the current quest would be very convenient.

May 19 2013, 1:11 pm MetalGear Post #34

Okay, the Fast Travel only works in certain places. If you're in a cave, dungeon, or Oblivion Plane, it won't work.

As for the quest confusion, originally I had a quest journal on the menu, but unfortunately I ran out of strings so I had to remove it. However, I did add a Walkthrough for your convenience. Click here for Walkthrough. You should try the new version, I fixed the glitches and made some other improvements. Blood Lust now works.

Oh and just a tip, not sure if you've noticed, but in certain places on the map you'll see one of these...

They give you +20 armor for 30 seconds. There's one in the mountains where I noticed you like to level up.

Well, play again and let me know how you go. Post the replay if you can.

I thought replays didn't work on UMS???

May 21 2013, 8:25 am MetalGear Post #36

UMS replays work on multiplayer when the speed is set to fastest. (If you speed up or slow down, it will break.)

Yoon, Lethal_Illusion and I played through the map again and this time beat the whole thing. This was a week or two ago, but I thought I should leave some feedback.

I was a big fan of the "skill" system. I felt it added a lot to the map to be able to pick some neat little effects to augment your playstyle. I was pretty impressed with the item system as well. Unfortunately, the way the game went, we all just focused luck and gold-find skills and then farmed Dragoons. Then when we had enough gold we just bought the best items and all the upgrades and blew through the plot. The game was a cinch after that, the only difficult part was the very beginning.

Perhaps it was just a failure on our part to play the map in the right or most engaging way, but I only ever bought the best items. It seemed more prudent to just farm passed the lesser items than to take the time out to go buy them and have to sell later. I personally didn't find the spells terribly useful, but I didn't take the time to try to read all of the descriptions. Yoon and Lethal on the other hand did use them.

Overall, a good map and well done.

Appreciate the feedback. I have to say, I agree with you on everything. After playing the map by myself, I did the same thing, just threw stats on gold, got rich, the rest of the game was easy and unchallenging. Glad you liked the other systems. If anything, I hope to inspire other mappers with new ideas.

jjf28 -- you could of course simply assign a non-splash weapon of the same damage class to the unit that otherwise had a splash weapon
[05:19 pm]
RdeRenato -- I thought the same, class damage, change things to "splash (enemy)" so as not to kill myself. Just my question appeared when I saw UMS without an ally splash, I have not seen post or anything about it
[02:55 pm]
Voyager7456 -- Splash (Enemy) is what Firebats do - it just prevents damage to your own units
[02:51 pm]
MTiger156 -- ...although in my case its ranged units vs. melee zombies and stuff
[02:50 pm]
MTiger156 -- I thought the "Splash (Enemy)" already does that. I've switched Arclite Shock Cannon ans Psi Storm to that and never had friendly-fire issues in PvE maps.

O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- they probably found some trickery with EUDs and like player IDs or something
[02:47 pm]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- that's why i'm not sure how they did it
[02:16 pm]
Voyager7456 -- nothing jumped out to me after looking at the damage functions
[01:48 pm]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- there are EUD maps with splash that doesn't hit allies, but I'm not sure how they did it
