I started to think about this awhile back.

Did anyone you love to type in that special cheat code that could give you a big head or make you invicible in videogames when you were a little? I loved to beat a game, and then check out a website like cheatcodes.com and see if it had any cool cheats to type in. Typing in cheat codes was awesome! But it seems to me that games don't have those types of secrets anymore. It's usually just something like unlocking some type of armor. Some games don't even have any funny secrets. I think it's kind of sad.

Who else agrees?

Thats not true. Theres tons of games with cool cheats. I would consider Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas to be the game with the most amount of secrets, cheats, and funny stuff ever made.

I remember cheats in AoE: Rise of Rome... Those were fun. Nuke troopers, shotgunning babies on tricycles, Y2K robots... Anyone remember the first Perfect Dark? :)

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.

There aren't really 'secrets,' but you can change a massive amount of the game's aspects.

I think a lot of cheats are stupid without others, like if a game adds "big head" or "head on fire" it's pointless because all it does is make your character look out of proportion, but if there are other cheats such as paintball mode in 007, then you can shoot their head and their head gets messed up and it's just funny, but in Rachet and Clank, getting a big head serves no purpose other then getting in your way.

I was never a fan of cheat codes that never really did anything. However, cheats that would help me win and stuff, I always used when I was stuck or something. :P

UT still has and always will have Mutators ^^

Rathcet and clank 3 has awesome secrets.
The museum, the lightsaber wrench, not to mention the unlockable cheats.

Haven't played the other Ratchet and Clank games, but I'd place money on them having cool secrets/cheats as well.
Eh has a gauss rifle and eh doesnt afraid of anything.

I remember playing God of War 2, you could unlock stuff like that and put it in (they were basically cheats you had to work for). Some of them were costumes, like when I beat the game my friend went through and played as the Cod of War, Kratos in a giant fish suit using fish hooks instead of his normal blades. But yeah its hard to find games where you can actually enter cheats in to do that sort of stuff nowadays.

Remember the good ol' days of EVERYONE knowing the cheats for playstation?
UP UP DOWN LEFT TRIANGLE LEFT DOWN SQUARE
[Normal!] people I know memorised that.
Also, Red Alert for playstation has a shitload of cheats. Not all of them that great. There are a few funny ones [Like the one that turns ore into assorted other things, such as civilians.]

I got stuck on the level where you have to invade the allied facility...
So I put in the Give All Superweapons cheat. And nuked their little asses.
Eh has a gauss rifle and eh doesnt afraid of anything.
