she/her

I need a track for a project I am working.

Absolute requirements:
-instrumental (vocalists are fine, intelligible English is not)
-dark

General qualities necessary:
-very dark
-very depressing
-filled with despair
-makes you want to kill yourself
-needs to have a bit of weight behind it, can't be entirely softly played piano (might except). This is for an action RPG like Demon's Souls or Dark Souls.

ALTERNATIVELY/ALSO NEEDED:
-extremely freaky, in the sense that something is going wrong
-to elaborate, I need something that can be played over you watching your own father kill your mother. Or, something that can be played over you watching yourself kill your girlfriend/boyfriend while blinded by anger/rage.
-harsh sounding
-hectic

I don't really care too much about genre this time, as long as it fits the bill. Speed isn't too much of an issue - it can be fast or slow paced. Fast paced /might/ be preferable.

examples:

Close, but no cigar. It's dark, but a bit too epic and large in scale. It's not sadistic-father-raping-screaming-daughter enough.

This is /basically/ perfect. If I can't find anything, this is my failsafe. (The thing is, I need two tracks like this. This can serve as one of them, but I need a second in a similar vein to this one.)

I don't really have any other examples, because I know next to nothing that satisfies my needs.

BTW:

This is for a last and/or second-last boss.

I'll give it a shot.

This is very close to what I'm looking for. Sounds a bit too cheery though. I might use this as a backup.

I just came across a term that could be used to describe what I'm looking for: atonal. Probably not mostly atonal though - something somewhat atonal, that compliments an already dark and devious theme.

Something sort of like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKcKGssg-Vc

(but this is a bit too slow/ambient. Not exactly fitting for a final fight.)

-

A bit more context: The boss(es) that might use this track are named Violence (6th boss, penultimate) and Murder (7th boss, ultimate).

EDIT:

something like this would turn out to be a good backup, but it needs to be more action-y.

I've posted this on SEN.

Too flowy and its timbre is not really what I'm looking for. It's unsettling, sure, but it doesn't capture the nuance I'm looking for at all.

More context: final boss reveals itself to be a manifestation of a murder the character committed.

EDIT:

You're really bad at this sort of thing, aren't you?

wth is starcraft

If you're so much better than us, why haven't you decided on something yet?

Personally I find your choices very lame for building suspense. Playing a game with overly terrifying music is corny to me and it makes me think that the story is lacking somewhere, and it comes off as rather forced. Horror should build itself in a game. Look at the soundtrack of Amnesia. Amnesia is genuinely, to me, a scary game. Just watching walk throughs gives me the creeps. But the music for the game by and large is very instrumental and melodic, even at the tense parts:

They have elements of horror, but they are not the thing that causes the horror. What causes horror is how the character interacts with the world around it. What I'm saying is, it sounds like you're trying to rely too much on music without investigating other elements of horror.

I would also like to direct to you to something seemingly a little pseudo-intellectual, but relevant. In the developed world, less is more. Every day people are bombarded with images and noise and music. When people find themselves in true danger they tend to describe it as an eerie peace, right? Not only that, but when something is typical (such as a game with many missions, or a tv show with many episodes, when the status quo on how sound is used changes the viewer/player knows shit is about to get serious. Two examples:

Ace Combat 4. Mission briefing music up until the final mission is this:

When you reach the final mission, you are met with this:

Cowboy Bebop. Most episodes end with the teaser for the next episode something like this:

(start video at 13:07)

For what should be a throw away episode, the teaser for the next episode is this:

(again, start at 13:07)

Music isn't what carries these examples. It might help if done right, but it is far from necessary for the music to be scary.

I might actually have a use for the second Ace Combat video. Thanks.

To all else: no or wrong.

Just here for the activity... well not really

maybe a little too progressive for your needs, but the second half of this song is pretty thrilling.

Eh, it only gets the "freaky" part down, but I can't use it.

Still looking.

EDIT:

Something sorta like this but a bit more boss fitting/less ambient.
