Don't bother too much about low number of UMS players and other crap, there will certenly be people to enjoy it, beginning with SEN !

Yeah I have been steadily working on the map for the last few months. Though I have set myself back a few times, reworking a system here, or another there but that is not a big surprise. Currently my thoughts on designing the spell system are changing even though they have been pretty ironclad in both use and effects for years now. What I am thinking about is adding more elements to it, because players who invest heavily into spells are going to be handicapped between the first and third stages of magic. Considering new ways of fixing this, I am thinking about adding the ability to purchase spells. Something to that effect anyway to assist spell casters transition through the. Just tweaking numbers will not work out that well here.

Will list the big to-do's that I currently have before I have a more playable version:
  • Crafting/Gambling 0.2
  • Purchase-able spells(?)
  • Rework of Terrain
  • Rebalance Sounds
  • Playtesting
  • First Boss Fight

Let us know if you need testers at some stage of the development.

Also, how many players will be able to play in a game ? Are there any major differences between playing single or in a team ?

Playing alone will grant you some passive health regeneration and lower the health of enemies, but also lowers how much experience you get. Map is currently planned to support three players and the more players there are, the more experience enemies grant and the higher their health will be.

Originally everything was EUD, went with VHP after a while because I wanted to make it accessable on bnet, but that does not really matter anymore.

The map is going to use EUDs and that's final. Unless blizzard announce 1.17 at blizzcon, then I might be fucked.

Enablers work for 1.16.1, but depending on what 1.17 changes it might become necessary to down-patch.

Just wanted to give an update on the map. With the launch of 1.18 and the complete destruction of EUD conditions, the map is on hold. Yes, I know downgrading is an option, but not for me in the long run. I want something somebody can just find on the internet and host without having to go through too many hoops, which is why this map went between requiring EUDEnabler and not, but I think aiming to make the game as available as possible is more of a concern to me than it was when I started the project.

People have asked if they were able to get a current version and just try it out on 1.16.1 but I think holding it back is best, because who knows how it might change and I don't want to spoil the game too much. I will talk about some aspects though: The spell system was completed, the bow system was completed, and so were the swords. Bows were a combination of using an interceptor and which direction you were moving, facing, and how long you had it notched. Potion crafting was completed. Sword and Bow crafting was in the works. Spells were not crafted, more so discovered by trying new combinations, as the spell system used the idea of selecting different combinations of units and ordering them to a target. Depending on what units were ordered, a spell was cast. You could get more units and different units through levels, equipped items, and buying them from mages. 100% based on target detection on many fronts. The first act is about "halfway" and the second act was started. I really enjoyed the little waypoint system I had made, which worked similar to Diablo 2. You would just go to a disabled beacon which each had a blinded burrowed unit at them, and order your hero to any other discovered waypoint. It would teleport you there and presto, traveling made easy.

Sounded cool. I am worried that by trying to make ur map work without target detection will be a big step back though, just for the sake of a slightly bigger audience.

Would love to see a gameplay video.

NudeRaider -- The map structure only ever recognizes one tileset at a time. So you'd have to define your own map format then make an .exe that can load such files. I don't think it's ever been done; it sounds like a lot of work. What's commonly done with modding is creating a new tileset. Then you decide which tiles go in there. You can also make new ones. You will probably also have to create a new palette as the different tilesets share only part of their colors. Finally entering speculation territory you could maybe use EUDs to dynamically change the graphics of certain tiles. Not sure if it's possible, but if it is, you better make a topic for it.

NudeRaider shouted: You are right, however, in that the Remastered *graphics* are just a skin are interchangeable, even midgame. Skinability being another new functionality. Anyways, for tools that rely on the original mpqs you will have to obtain a legacy version of sc.
