Had been working on the inventory and quest systems for a while when today I thought of a unique way of delivering both in a much neater, easier, and less string heavy way of accomplishing it: When you complete a quest, you pick one of three items to equip, and lose the old one. Not sure if I will even be using a form of currency in this game besides some form of stat points.
Spells are complete, so is the VHP system for both enemies and allies. Been working on this map for a while, just never posting any updates because progress fluctuates.
Found common ground with three human players.
Now using four distinct stats for each player on a 1:1 ratio and they are as follows:
Life increases your maximum health
Strength increases your attack damage
Fortitude reduces incoming damage
Will increases your spell power
Each player will have a weapon slot, armor slot, and two spell slots. Equipment increases some stats while they are equipped. Getting a new spell after having two will force you to choose which one to destroy/discard. Equipping a new weapon or armor destroys the old one.
Most quests will give you three reward choices and they can be any combination of weapons, armors, and/or spells. Some may give you a choice to increase stats of your choice permanently. There will be no levels in this game

Pretty confident that I am learning away from inventory items in general and forcing them all into spells. Such as some spells are only a self-heal, others can heal allies, one will deal damage to a random enemy, and another will deal damage to all enemies around yourself. Planning to use a good variety of spells that have functionally different effects, not just varied damage.
I do need a couple of testers, but not anytime soon, pretty far from my home PC actually working on my old,
read broken, laptop.
Actually pretty excited, because excluding terrain work, I am completely planned out. Not in theory, the triggers all work in my head, the only possible fear right now is the dreaded string limit :<

Still working on it, last few days have been a rush of inspiration. Even though there have been some hiccups in terms of scrapping things that didn't feel right, or not feeling good about the terrain. This is starting to look like Tenebrous 2.0 lmao
I am back to using EUDAs again and it will stay that way. Accessibility is no longer a concern to me because, well battle.net is dead.
