Felicitations, fellow designers, developers, engineers, and programmers! My real name is Nicholas Manuel, but on battle.net, I'm ArchMcShane. I'm a furry of many talents: traditional art, VGM production, fanfiction writing, and soon, map making and campaign design.
My battle.net screenname, is named after my main fursona, Archibald McShane the Aerian, a monkey-dragon crossbreed that loves exploring the outer-regions of the galaxy. Well, jump to the year 3145, a time when the Terrans were divided into two factions, the Mircon Republic, and the Viatome Empire. One stands for liberty, the other exists for money and power. Archibald's great x14 grandson, Kayin Mcshane would become the Sovereign of the Mircons. While the police state of the Viatomes, would fall under rule of Premier Viktrik Yurikov. Viktrik, aided by his second-in-command, General Iago Yurgov, unfolds an evil plot, involving the return of the Zerg. James McShane, Kayin's only son, takes command of the Alundra Platoon in an attempt to surpress the onslaught, but will James have what it takes to end the Viatome Empire's greed, or will the galaxy finally be in Yurikov's possesion? Here's what I need to know: How do I create a simple pre-mission debriefing prior to map initialization? It's the scene before the game, with characters talking, text scrolling down, objectives displaying, you know exactly what I'm talking about, right? What are the encoding parameters for standard wave files; bit rate, frequency, maximum length, etc.? Will a Static Portrait work in place of an animated one, when you use voice and dialogue with it? Anyway, I hope you welcome me with open arms.  |

I suggest you post your requests in the mapping assistance forums, as down here gets less attention  also is that for SC1 or SC2? Red classic. I have mostly left SEN except for the Temple Siege 2 forum (hidden to most of you). I am available via PM still, and Skype as JackRCDF. If it is important to you, you will find a way. Otherwise, you will find an excuse. -Unknown Magnificent! Perhaps you shouldn't be on SEN as much, too... Better than the iPad! |

Welcome to SEN. This subforum isn't really made for answering technical questions, and as Jack suggested, it should go into our SC2 Assistance section. However, here's a few quick answers to help get the ball rolling:
Cutscenes and the like are normally handled through triggers. You can control cameras, display text, portraits, etc. with specific trigger actions. If you want it to happen "before the game," you should make the trigger for the debriefing run immediately when the map starts. For more help, make a thread in the SC2 Triggers section (although it looks like you already did that). Wave files are awfully large, and you should consider using mp3 files instead. Unlike SC1, SC2 supports these better sound formats. I don't see why it wouldn't. If it's imported portrait, it needs to be the correct filetype, of course.
