Ok, so I recently purchased a new wireless keyboard, and it has worked great so long as my OS is running. For some reason, my bios isn't recognizing it, and was halting upon startup. I've bypassed this by simply saying halt on errors except keyboard, but I feel like that isn't really a fix to the problem, and would need to plug in a different keyboard if I needed to access my bios...
Has anyone encountered this problem?
I have my Legacy USB support enabled, which seems to be the standard answer. This keyboard isn't old in the least.
None.
Post on the manufacturers support forum, if they have one?
None.
Try removing every other USB device besides the keyboard and see if the problem persists. If your computer has any internal memory card readers, unplug those as well. I would also see if updating your BIOS to a newer version is possible.
None.
How old is the motherboard? Some older ones didn't have good USB keyboard support in the BIOS. If you haven't already tried it, try plugging the keyboard into one of the USB ports closest to the PS/2 keyboard/mouse ports (they are usually the first and second USB ports, and some systems require them to be plugged in there for the BIOS to recognize it).
None.
fucking bios.
I've had a few IBMs in particular do this to me where they would not recognize a USB keyboard at all. I got the power on, the numlock key went on, then suddenly I lost all power. Same for USB mouse.
Next motherboard I buy isn't going to have a bios at all.
