Having problems with player colors.
I have a Custom map where 2 computer players are Red so that i could change ownership of units without the User noticing, but as soon as i added the game variant, it jacked things up.
One of the computer players is always a light blue like the neutral color from SC1.

In player properties i have both Comp players as "any" color.
In Game variants i have one player as Red, and the other player as any other color (game variants wont let me have 2 players as the same color, SUCKS)
And then a trigger setting the other computers team as "player01-Red"
But the one computer is always that light blue.

I just want the 2 comps colored Red, and the map up-loadable to Bnet

An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

I'm not entirely sure as to what's causing the issue, but it sounds like SC2 won't let you have two players with the same color from what you described. Have you tried setting the other computer to red and dynamically setting the current computer instead? If so, what were the results?

Also, you may not be aware of this, but when changing ownership via triggers, you can choose the unit to retain its original color.

As a side question, why do you need to change the ownership between two computer players for your map? Couldn't things be handled more subtly, such as having a custom score associated with a particular functionality for the unit? You don't necessarily need to have the unit owned by a different player to achieve the same effect and control.

Well according to the Wiki, test mode cant handle variants so this hasn't been properly tested yet. And what is the recommended action for "dynamically" changing the players color?

Correct but the one player's units still change color WHICH MAKES NO SENSE. And by the way the light blue is no where found in my player properties or triggers. i don't understand where SC2 is getting it from.
I also made a trigger that when i clicked on a computer unit, it would change its color to red, but the unit would quickly change back to light blue... strange!

Thought you would never ask....
1st computer is "Unalarmed," as-in treats other players as neutral. 2nd computer is "alarmed" against all players
So, when triggers decide that the first computer should be alarmed the units are simply "changed ownership."
Further detail:[i am working with a trigger system that determines if the "unalarmed" units can see the players units. In normal sc1 & sc2, units attack at a 360' radius around them. I'm achieving actual peripherals and what not..]

i guess a New way to sum up this question is how the heck do you achieve light blue Units?
No option anywhere in the data editor or triggers allows you to pick light blue.... HOW?

An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

For the scenario you described, it is not necessary to use multiple players to accomplish the task. However, if you're determined to do it this way, I won't stop you.

If you could post the map, I could investigate further into why the player colors are different, since I'm not sure with the details given to me. Is one of the computers neutral? Is this the only computer that does this? Is the change color trigger causing this? Can you change its color to anything else, or is it stuck that way?

i would like your version of this please
Note [i have to have units that walk around and patrol the city and they ignore the User units until my trigger system determines that they are "visible in front of them," and then they are cut loose to attack until they become idle again..]

i will PM it to you.
1) both p7 & p8 are computers but p7 treats the User as neutral, but it has always been that way.
2) i havent tested if other computers do this
3) not sure
4) cant change its color from light blue, once it goes light blue its stuck (immediately returns to light blue after you try to change it)

OK everyone, after PMing Roy, we came to the conclusion that my player color settings were set to show green / yellow / red.
For some reason light blue is also included in that setting.
Roy has been such a great help with all of his wisdom with my screwball questions. Thanks again
