That's right folks, PvP terraria is coming. This is going to be on a first come first serve basis. Personally I'm looking for a 3 team game. 3v3v3 is the biggest I'll accept.

It should be noted that there will be some differences in this one. Most notably NPCs will be on a "per team" style hopefully, so no worries about only one group getting a merchant. Shadow is supposed to be working on the plugin.

We will be using teamspeak to allow for better ingame coordination.

I am open to suggestions as to how we should set up bases. Should we just drop the players off and say GOGOGO? Shadow said that there could be a setspawn command so that when you die you go to your team's spawn, so this could allow for bases to be set up independent of each other (team joins, picks base, sets spawn, leaves, repeat for all teams).

Actually I'm open to suggestions on just about everything. Feel free to give your opinion (so long as it is backed with reasons). This applies especially with timing. If 9 people come here and say "TiKels, we want saturday at 3:37 PM what are you doing?" I could probably shift it or something. Also, keep in mind that the team numbers (3v3v3, 2v2v2, 3v3, etc) are still up for debate.

Rules:
1. In the event of beyond minor connection problems you will be disallowed from playing for this round and a substitute will replace you (start of game only). This allows for other people to play.
2. If you disconnect you may reconnect as you please, assuming it is the same character.
3. Only new characters unless game's rule says otherwise (IE: We're playing a Juggernaught match)
4. No glitching or modded clients allowed, Read: no cheating.
5. You must stay on your team slot (red, blue, etc) with PvP enabled.

Why is this in Null? Also, we already have a Terraria PvP thread. Furthermore, fuck Thursday. Make it on Tuesday; that's the closest day that I'll be able to do it.

I like how in the course of "five months" not one dedicated PvP match has occurred. It's thursday because shady needs time to do the plugins, I need to get people in here, I'm busy all of wednesday up to like 5:00, friday I have highschool orientation, and saturday is too far. Demon straight up, if you mean today (tuesday), go ahead, put shit in motion and help me get shit situated earlier (pushing shady to do plugins/getting people). If you mean next tuesday, you'll be in time for the second one, or even third, if we go ahead and this becomes a theme.

Minimum is 6, maximum is 9.

If we get 7 the last person gets chopped off, if we get 8, we MIGHT do 2v2v2v2 but that could be a little crazy. 9 is 3v3v3. 6 is going to be 2v2v2 or 3v3, I'd prefer the former.

You shouldn't 3v3v3. How would that even work? One team goes left, another goes right, and the last goes...? Down? It wouldn't make any sense. Besides, to have 9 players would require at least a small world, whereas we were thinking of using a tiny world for 3v3. Nine is just too much, and it adds to many complexities.

One team goes left, another team goes more left. Third team goes right. It's not like they're gonna know where each team is when they set up base, so it will be a surprise. I currently have no rules about base placement. As far as I'm concerned if you were a bouse you could leave nomadically. I also did not discuss world size in this, so that brings up another point.

What size world should we use?

Smallest possible world size. At least to start.

Edit: And actually, I'd rather not have to enact a "no rush" rule, so we might want to go for a medium sized world and allow huge distances to be rush prevention. I mean honestly.

You could also have two people die as Hardcore and get ghosts, then use them as like Spectators/Judges to follow and make sure each team is being law abiding citizens.

Also for the start, one of the people not playing the match should investigate the map. Then find a reasonable condition when both teams spawn like, "You have 30 seconds, whoever is the first team to find X and bring it to me, gets to choose which direction each team goes." This gives a valuable scouting period and if you didn't like that way, you can choose to go the other. Then each team parts ways and 5 seconds after each team leaves, they can kill each other.

Also another rule should be no holing in. Example would be you and your team digs straight down, then fills it like it was never dug. You can hide all you want, just no 'impossible' to find scenarios.
