Ok, stemming from a minor shoutbox discussion, I'd like to hear SEN's ideas for scaring the shit out of someone who goes looking through your stuff without justification. Rules are as follows: Nobody may be even moderately injured by the booby traps (moderately=some bandages, at the very most), they must (or at least should) be made from easy-to-acquire materials, and should be at least moderately reusable. Bonus points go to ideas that wouldn't likely damage documents. For example, in the provided link, my idea of a H2O2 surprise would fail on at least two of the three rules (easy-to-make and reusable), and likely even the bonus. Aristocrat's capacitor is much better as it easily fits all categories. It's reusable, easily made, and provides no more than a quick jolt at the very best.

So SEN, I challenge you to beat Aristocrat's idea. Think of a booby trap that can shock someone more than Aristocrat's, and leave them feeling a little more burnt than mine.

I just thought of something ... I could write a program that communicates with a parallel port and if the contacts are broken (the door is opened) it plays a blaring noise. I could easily disable it by turning off the program.
It could also play a sound clip like I SEE YOU THERE OPENIN MAH DRAWERS GTFO.

It can also be done without a computer, but that would require some circuitry.

My brother used to grow pot in the cupboard in his room. And to stop me going in there, when I was like 8 he would hide in the cupboard and make like 'scary animal noises'. I was shit-scared of that cupboard and whatever lurked inside it.

That's actually a bit of an issue for some people when their parents die and they have to go through the house and clean it out - coming across all their sex stuff. If you've got elderly parents it's generally less of an issue as a lot of them are no longer sexually active, but if your parents weren't that old than it's a quite probable you'll run into something.

If you have a safe or otherwise conspicuously locked box, then they'll know that you're trying to hide something. Alternatively, you could use such a conspicuously locked box to divert their attention from the thing you're *really* trying to hide.

I took apart a recordable birthday card and made a warning recording... making the trap is hard. If i were to make one it would probably be a out of a taser or pepper spray. However if you can't afford either making then creating a claymore using a mouse traps is another possibility but i can't vouch for its lethality becuase i've never actually tried the trap on myself like i did with the taser and pepper spray.

In all honesty the best course of action is to confront them about it.

Tell them to stop looking through your shit.

Steal some of their stuff and hide it in your stuff, then when they confront you about it be like "why were you going through my shit?"

I did, and they lied. I don't want to give up my camera, though ... or else I'd just be like HEY LOOK PICTOORS.
