If i still had Sc1 i would so make an rpg... oh well.

Truth hurts. Maybe not as much as jumping on a bicycle with a seat missing, but it hurts.

I'm not sure if Tikels is still judging lawl. I'll PM him and see what he says. If he's not, then I'll compile the mine and Angel's scores to determine the winner. ;o

For pr0nogo's campaign, all the typos except for advance and eilimination are british spelling rather than the american one; you can't judge him down on those...

For my typos I actually had those on my list of things to do but never got around to fixing them :P

- If someone is using 'power overwhelming,' the mission won't end for them and they'll have no clue what they're doing wrong.
... no way you're lowering his score because of cheat prevention...

Red classic.

I have mostly left SEN except for the Temple Siege 2 forum (hidden to most of you). I am available via PM still, and Skype as JackRCDF.

If it is important to you, you will find a way. Otherwise, you will find an excuse. -Unknown
Magnificent!
Perhaps you shouldn't be on SEN as much, too...

The Zerg portion has its own cliffhanger, with there being serious uncertainty with regards to their survival.

The following things were completely intentional:
Quote
-When Altaesir begins to talk at the beginning, there are sometimes zerglings already attacking him.
Quote
anti-UK spelling!!!
Quote
Odd: The images for each episode in the single player main screen have been changed, but they are placed in the wrong spots. Zerg is first, protoss is second, and terran is last. I can see why you wouldn't know this, but the .smks are arranged in the proper order of Rivalry's campaigns - Zerg, Protoss, Terran.

...and
Quote
• It wasn't clear how you were supposed to kill the spore colonies on the east side of the map (the one with no ramps). If I hadn't torn apart the entire map, I probably would have never found the Nydul Canals.

There were units spawning from there and attacking your base, which was the main indicator that you were supposed to go there.

Quote
the "..." during the character dialogue is also used in that campaign.

While I did take inspiration from VE, this was not one of the times. The elipse seemed like the best way to have Garros respond without thinking out loud, as it were.

Quote
- Every mission was essentially just build and destroy.

Lol. I shouldn't even have to explain why this makes no sense.

GUYS SOMEONE MADE A CAMPAIGN WHERE YOU KILL SOMETHING EVERY MISSION! BOOOOOORIIIIIING

That's all I see at the present. I'll return to it soon, for a double-take. Might want to get the typos cleaned up (e.g. "incredibly amount" and "there MANY doodads").

But he's American. It really doesn't make any sense as to why you would intentionally spell something different.

I didn't take points off for this. I guess it was more of a neutral comment; I'm not sure why I used a minus sign.

The first time I played that mission, there were no zerglings attacking him.

If you're going to replace Blizzard's missions after completing the entire thing, then I see how this makes sense. Either way, it didn't affect your score; I just thought it was random.

But there was no indication of having to do that. It was hard to tell where exactly the units were coming from, since the entire map was littered with them. If Torzul had sent us a message saying something like, "There are nydus canals to the northwest that can help you reach the spore colonies," it would've have been a lot clearer as to what we were supposed to do.

But the missions really were just "destroy the zerg forces" or "clear the bases around the temple." I can understand having to kill a specific building or unit, but having to destroy multiple bases in 3/4 maps gets quite boring and tedious after a while.

God forbid you have to destroy buildings in Starcraft! D:!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never understood the hate for B&D. I'll take B&D over any other mission type any day of the week. (Note - I haven't gotten around to playing Jim/Porn's entries yet and given them my independent review so I'll hold my opinion of his stuff specifically until I do)
(-e wtf pornogo's file has been deleted due to ToS violating wtf were you uploading son)

Anyways, I'm glad that Jack came through and won the day for me. :'D

To end the contest we'll all have some cake right? Otherwise there won't be any closure.

Also, I thought Pr0nogo was Polish or something. Was he an American in disguise all along? :devlin:

Only Tikels' review left...

He's Polish.

- Whole campaign revolves around defense, which can get boring at times.
Isn't that slightly overdoing it? While I admit to having the second two maps completely defense, the first map was most certainly not. I wouldn't say the 'whole' campaign was defense.

Quote from Dem0nS1ayer
- The player just kind of jumps around from place to place. First it's in one area of the city, then they go south, and then they evac to fight more zerg, and then they go back to base.

Well, yeah. :P The Zerg are attacking from all fronts, they have to keep jumping around. I guess I should have made this more clear, or something.

Quote from Dem0nS1ayer
- Language was a bit too much for my taste. I understand that it's a military environment, but I just don't think using words like "fuck" and "shit" that much is necessary.
Watch any R rated military movie, they swear a whole lot more than my characters. Edit: Actually, reading my script over again, you're right. I did kind of overdo it.

Other than these few points, thanks! :D I'll try to improve it later, this is much appreciated.

@Dem0n:

I'm Polish. Europeans use UK spellings. Practise makes perfect. derp
I do live in America, though.

While map 2's victory should be tailored to destroying JUST the Spore Colony platforms, the gameplay is not overtly demanding. I will reduce the onslaught of Zerg that spawn in both Zerg 3 and Protoss 4, but the gameplay will not change to 'destroy ten Protoss units and win' or 'destroy ten Zerg buildings and win' just because you found it tedious. Not only is your implied alternative unrealistic and unchallenging, it doesn't fit the premise or style of Rivalry at all.

And that's perfectly fine. I don't like changing things about my maps either, regardless of what others say. Also, I'm not trying to get you to change the overall gameplay of each map. I just think there's too many zerg rushing towards you in the last two maps, and sometimes the objectives aren't very clear.

Out of curiosity, how many people would be interested in doing another campaign contest (with more professionalism, faster judging, etc.)? I'd like to host my own with cash prizes but I'm not sure if I'd get a good enough turnout.

You'd probably get less participants than this one if you hosted it here.

I'm going to take a guess and say that Tikels will not finish judging the campaigns. >_> In that case, here are the winners!

THIRD PLACE

Jack]RCDF with a combined score of 19.875/40!

SECOND PLACE

Pr0nogo with a combined score of 24.47/40!

FIRST PLACE

Jim_Raynor with a combined score of 36.25/40!

Thank you to all who participated! Sorry about all the confusion that went on during the contest and the delayed results. Minerals will be handed out soon! Minerals have now been handed out. :)

On a side note, Jim_Raynor is now out of the negatives for minerals! I doubt he really cares though. :wob:
