Chance groaned at the thought of moving. This morning was not unlike any other. Slowly, but with deliberance, he flopped out of his bed and onto the floor.
"You're gonna be late for school if you don't get up soon," called out Chance's mother. Her waking words echoed about the house as Chance gathered the strength to lift himself.
"I'm coming, I'm coming..."
A senior at Herpal High School, Chance is essentially the definition of your average student. Average marks, average size, colour of majority (white, in this case) with a handful of close friends.
However, nothing is set in stone. This seemingly normal teenager is about to embark on an epic journey guided by fate, and guided by you.
Finally on his feet, Chance held his palm to his forehead, trying to clear his head. He needed to wash up and get moving, or he'd be late for school.

Annoyed at his mother's incessant whining, Chance decided to once and for all end her life. After procuring a knife from the kitchen, Chance began creeping ever so slowly towards his mother, patiently awaiting the perfect moment to wrench her neck to the side and plunge the blade in. Carefully and quietly, he edged closer and closer.
A loud squeak erupted from Chance's foot. He had stepped on a dog's chew toy! This struck Chance as odd, seeing as their family did not own a dog, but it also startled his mother. She turned to Chance to see him crouching behind her with a knife drawn.
"Chance, what are you doing?"
Speechless and without a reasonable excuse, Chance sputtered a few arbitrary syllables before running out the door.
"Fuck this shit," said Chance to himself. "I'm scoring some fucking coke."
Chance pulled out his phone and dialed a local drug dealer. He recieved no answer.
Frustrated and standing in the middle of the road, Chance contemplated his next action.
