I've decided to start up a youtube channel! It's going to be host to a lot of different content focused on helping players to learn and grow as a player. Last night I finished my first recording: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_vU2UD3u98

Be sure to check it out, and I'll have more and more content published. For the most part I'll be starting with Protoss strategies, but can cover a lot of other topics as well.

hiya~~~~~~~~!

I'd like to give you some hints for your videoz!!!!!!

You are clearly spoken and don't try to talk really fast, ilu <3

plz dun drag the mini map to move the camera, n plz turn down arrow/scroll sensitivity~ in fact, the middle mouse button with some gentle motion is the best and least jerky/aggravating way to move the camera. As a TL'er you should be aware of Chill's guide in regards to observing, this is a good place to start reading how to best make videos. :D :D:D:D Most people in sc2 have become extremely anal about observing movements so, yeah.

Ouch, that's some nasty frame dropping going on :( I hope you're using fraps to record. The lag is very intense despite your low settings.

I added you on friends and can plug you in some of my videos because I know you know your shit.

You speak quite quickly in places, and as a whole the commentary suffers a little bit. People are used to folks such as Day9, Artosis and InControl etc - and personally for me, I found it hard to concentrate on what you were saying. Maybe because a Forge+FE isn't the most exciting of topics hehe.

Also, gotta agree with Mesk - the way you scroll'd by using the minimap is almost impossible to follow gameplay.

Definitely upgrade your recording hardware (write to an external/alternate drive to that which the game is installed on), if you want to continue down this road! gl hf

Gone.

Thanks for the good feedback you two. The framerate is actually an internet issue that will be resolved shortly. As for my voice, I definitely need to be a bit more enthusiastic, and perhaps get a better mic so I'm much more clear and easy to listen to. I don't want people to have to strain and concentrate to get what I'm saying.

As for the screen scrolling, you're absolutely right. Much too jerky. I'm scrolling as if I'm playing, sorta! That's not good haha. That will be remedied shortly, and I'll look for Chill's thread (never actually heard of it before).

Will definitely try to improve on the aspects you mentioned, and thanks in advance for any plugs Mesk!

Er... how would the internet impact your frame rate? Recording is clientside... unless you're recording your stream. That would be a really, REALLY bad idea, as the quality is really bad and you can't use fraps. Really, get fraps, it's the only way you want to be recording videos. It's a lot different than streaming and you will thank yourself down the line. I can walk you through encoding the videos if you need me to.

Alright, I'll ttyl about using FRAPS. For now this is working, and it's more important I just get content up. I can redo them if needed.

If you can sort out the stuttering/lag it shouldn't be a huge issue since you're just making educational videos.

Try to avoid reducing the sound level of your voice in the end of the sentences. That happened a few times in the beginning and made it a bit more difficult to understand. In the end it didn't happen anymore. :) maybe it's only the excitement ;D

The lags made the scrolling worse than they were.

You can use a compressor (e.g. dynamics processing in audition) if you think the volume is being difficult to control.

This is a common public speaking issue, usually because the speaker is nervous or not confident. I'm guessing Cecil started to feel more comfortable as he continued, which is why it stopped.

By the way, people watching casts for entertainment purposes like to see it in higher graphics settings.

And have the production tab open!

Right, I'll try not to dive off with my voice! Also, I can't up the graphics without new hardware :(

Don't mean to sound like a dick, but you really HAVE to upgrade your hardware to take this further. The low quality is, well, unnecessary when Starcraft 2 is a visually, good looking game. The frame-rate inconsistency makes it painful to watch. At the very least, ask Mesk to talk you through some fraps-ing basics, most notably, writing to an external hard-drive.

Well you might have watched an older video, but my last two were done in fraps with a solid 30 FPS the whole time. Hardware will come sometime soon, but not possible right now.

If you decide to upgrade your hardware significantly, don't plan on recording to an external. Their transfer rate makes high def recording impossible. USB 3.0 might work but an internal is still your best bet. Get something like a Western Digital Caviar Black.

The capacity is nowhere near enough for regular HD recording if you plan to go that route.

It is if he doesn't plan on permanently storing them, that's what the internet is for.
