Hey so I just found out my brother had a copy of Starcraft
Beta and I want to see if it's the same or different version of what I have. Unfortunately however, I can't install the game because there's an error and it says "Cyclic Redundancy Check" (btw my cd is pretty scratched up)
EDIT: Ok it's Starcraft V1.00, no patches, Blizzard just forgot to remove the .txt file about Beta

Thank you so much, I never thought of that!

There's things you can (sometimes) do for damaged CDs, but yeah you're out of luck otherwise.

If your CD is scratched up it means it can't read the data ... the CRC error is just because what it is reading does not match what it should read (it calculates a number to compare).

The best you can do is try polishing the disc to see if you can get the scratches out.
Google CD repair and you'll probably find instructions on how to do it with toothpaste and such. Might as well give it a go because it's a coaster otherwise.
