I have some long, red-eye flights ahead of me, and I need entertainment. Specifically, I need suggestions for a game or a collection of games that can keep me occupied for eight or so hours. Here's a list of criteria, in roughly descending order of importance:
- Fun
- Doesn't require an internet connection
- Easily played with a touchpad
- Not obnoxious to people sitting near me (i.e. no button mashing, minimal flashing lights)
- Can be played with minimal power use (my laptop's battery lasts about four hours with the processor throttled to 50%; I want to milk it for all it's worth)
Also accepted are any Nintendo DS games that would be in my interests to pick up for said flight.
None.
Aren't you supposed to sleep on Red Eye flights? Isn't that the whole point?
None.
I'd just whip out an emulator and your choice of an SNES JRPG.
That, or some
Dwarf Fortress (too CPU intensive) or Nethack or something...

Nintendo DS games? Ever played "the world ends with you"? I guess that is kind of annoying for the people around you though... Well most DS games are all touch based scratching or button mashing... Pokemon and other turn based games are not. not too many options.

This.
Red classic.

Ever tried Advance Wars? It's an awesome game that should keep you occupied easily for a few hours.
None.
I order you to forgive yourself!
Here is what I would bring:
- Bring a Rubik's cube
- Bring cards (I do a lot of magic tricks, but I guess you can also play games if you like.)
- Bring a book or more
- Bring papers or notebooks to write
- Bring sheet of musics if you like composing music.
- If you want to play a video game, bring Pokemon. That last for a long time. (Unless you already beat / caught them all.)

Yeah, just bring a gameboy/DS (fully charged of course) and a couple of your favorite games. You're not going to play your games for the
entire trip (you'll probably get bored), so it's not like you'll have to load up on entertainment.
One fun game that you might try is a game called
N, which is a fun platformer where you play the role of a ninja that can climb walls and has a 180 second life span that is increased with each gold coin you pickup.

Re: Everyone
Lanthanide: I don't do so well with that sleeping-on-planes thing. I'll be flying coach. D:
AngelSpirit: Yes, I have Advance Wars somewhere around here...
Demonslayer: I flew to the same place a couple months ago, and if I wasn't on a nice 757 with satellite TV, I certainly would have been bored to hell. Flying to and from St. Louis with my robotics team a few weeks later, we played Starcraft and Plants Vs. Zombies for a majority of the flying time, and that was fairly fun.
Tikels: Yeah, I had forgotten about N, I'll have to download that on my laptop.
Are the newest Pokemon games any good?
None.

Seriously, this is all you need. There's a ton of fun arcade games you can play until you're bored, then next. Or you find a good one. Surprisingly I very much enjoyed Dragonball Z (I'm not a fan at all) even though I think that was a Game Boy Color game.
Chrono Trigger on the DS.
None.
lucky. I feel like I'd be so productive on flights if I didn't sleep through all of them.
or snore through themHow about you get some eBooks? Kindle/Adobe Digital Version shouldn't take that much energy from your laptop.
Emulate final fantasy tactics. Disregard every post in this thread.
or just watch the in flight movies. I'm sure they have outlets under the seats in airlines. ;o

You sure there're no power outlets on planes? There should be >:|
I'd say minecraft, but it'd probably be bad on battery.
PLAY A FLIGHT SIMULATOR JUST TO BE IRONIC.
Also, Pokemon. Any version. The choice is yours.
Also. Watch a video on how to make your own bomb with the volume on max

Super Meat Boy, although if the constant key mashing doesn't annoy people, your fits of rage every time you die certainly will.
+1 for the emulation ideas, too. I'd say go with Final Fantasy Tactics for PS1 or Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for GBA.
