Sacrieur's Attempt to become Awesome

I know, I know. Me becoming awesome right? What I mean really =P. But no, I want to become more muscular, lots more muscular, like this:

I don't get hardly enough exercise already, partly because I'm injured to fuck, and party because I spend more time than I should being sedentary. It isn't that I don't know what to do (rather my knowledge of fitness and diet is extensive), it is what I am not doing. I is skinny nao, weighing in at a modest 140 lbs. At one point I was up at 160 lbs. with the muscle to show, but that has dropped since injuries. Now armed with ibuprofen and copious amounts of fish oil, I feel like I can take on this challenge and pack on the muscle pounds. To keep me on track I will post a link to a pictar of myself daily, as others have done to stay motivated (though really once I get into the habit of exercise I cannot stop).

I will be following the Onus Wunsler program from Starting Strength. On non-workout days I will be performing core strengthing exercises such as weighted L-sits and weighted leg lifts. On sundays I wll perform balance and proprioception. Offdays I will also go through an entire flexibility regimen. I will juggle, too, every day for twenty minutes a day.

Collapsable Box

So anyone wanna join me or are we all going to point fingers and laugh?

inb4 people say I'm stroking my ego

Are you sure about that?

You are bishounen type. Why would you want to get all muscly? Just get some definition instead of mass and you will be fine ;o

Lord of the Locker Room

You've got that cute boy-band look about you.

Show them your butt, and when you do, slap it so it creates a sound akin to a chorus of screaming spider monkeys flogging a chime with cacti. Only then can you find your destiny at the tip of the shaft.

Because I hate being weak. I like being stronger-- it also benefits mental and physical health like ... a lot. Needless to say I can stop any time I want to. And my fianceč will be the first to tell me when I'm too large. Strength gains for the first month or so will be primarily neurological, then we kick up the gear with muscle gains. I get to see how actually strong I am today, will post results after workout =P

Not really worried about appearance. I like to pick things up that are heavy though.

So today I did a test run/first workout. Wow. I'm weak.

Squat: Max was around 130 lbs. I did 2x5 more of 70 lbs. This is pitiful.

Free weights: Because of my lack of experience with deadlifts and powercleans (will work on those monday), I am able to curl 20 lbs 3x5 with little difficulty. I could do deltoid adduction with 15 lbs. This is okay compared to my weight.

Bench press was iffy, no spotter, so didn't work on this. Will use freeweight bench press on monday. I performed some bodyweight exercises in place of. I still managed to churn out 3x5 dips and 5 pull-ups (which is terrible). A week from now I believe I'll be at a much bigger advantage.

Also weighed myself, 141 lbs. including clothes and shoes. So that boils down to around 136 lbs. or so for actual weight. Damn I'm skinny.

Hells yeah. Let me be your motivation: I'm weak for most people I'm friends with, and I squat 300lbs 3x5 and I bench 200lbs 3x5.
So proud to see someone lifting!

The fact that you even said Starting strength let's me know that you're not a complete retard when it comes to working out. Good for you. I'm sure nobody will have to tell you about how important eating is. Although worrying about your diet isn't as important as when your starting out since I doubt you would be requiring anymore nutrients than you are putting into your body. Well I assume not but then again I eat like at least 4 plates a day and most of my friends complain about how they eat so much but they don't gain weight but by 'eating a lot' they mean eating a lot of bags of potato chips. Maybe I'm wrong. I really hope that if you're serious about this that you are the one preparing your food because the food you will probably need to eat will be different then someone who doesn't want to work out and gain muscle.

Don't forget. You can work out for strength or for vanity. They are pretty close but theirs a difference in working out for strength and working out for size. Small reps with huge reps = strength while more reps with less weight is more for size. I had an image chart to show the reps for certain workouts to see which number would be more for strength or size. Something like this

Chest for example:

You would do 5(6 for lulz. Real men do 6) reps of 5 sets of benching. That's more inclined for strength. While 3 sets of 12 reps would be for size. But this really only ever matter after you finish starting strength and move into more srs workout routines.

One more thing, don't forget to eat plenty of OATZ and do many SQUATZ

Fuck anyone in this thread. The only inspiration you need is zyzz. Yell 'Come at me bro' after every rep.

Sacrieur, you know how to properly do musculation right? How to lift weights without hurting your back, etc.
That's some very important stuff. :/

Working on "ante-muscles" is important too: if you work on your abs, work on your back as well. If you work on your triceps, work on your biceps too. Etc.

What is this I don't even

http://www.pregnancyandchildcare.info/pregnancy_articles/anteexer.html
That's what I get when I google Ante-muscles. I assume that was a lack for a better word. If he was serious about it he wouldn't do something like just work out his upper body and disregard other muscles. Well then again he is doing it for vanity and not strength. Or were you implying that when you lift weights in a way that's meant for working out your triceps, your bi ceps also 'feel the burn'. If you are then I'm going to say lolwat to you sir.

Bro, don't forget the old saying for whipping up a new work out routine:

"Back and Bis, Chest and tris"

Everything else can be combined at lol random. But you almsot have to always pair those on the same day to get maximum broceps. Feel me bro?

If you're not sure what you should be doing just do FxF (where F= Fatigue, ex. your rep per set is until you fatigue and the number of sets is until fatigue) Guaranteed to break your body and not work but chicks dig it.

Edit: Hold the fucking phone. I don't remember starting strength telling people to do Power cleans. That is an advanced and dangerous lifting technique. It's hard to do if you are just starting out, but you say your knowledge is extensive. I just find that really weird. A lot of people will tell you that when you start off technique is ALWAYS more important than adding more weight. Doing the work out with less weight until you get the proper technique down maximizes results and in some cases not doing things properly will have you lifting weights without /any/ results. Power cleans are pretty hard to pull off. I found it impossible to learn by watching videos. I had to have someone in front of me do it a billion times. Maybe I'm just a slow learner.

It isn't that I'm adding a lot of weight, I'm trying to learn the technique. I'm doing 50% max for squat and have no intention of trying out deadlifts or power cleans with any weight but the bar at first. The Onus Wunsler program apparently employs power cleans, which I'm okay with, because they are something I'll have to learn eventually.

Sorry for the post above, I was severely drunk. I shouldn't be so cock :kame:

Anyways, Payne means work out muscles that oppose each other, which is good. Even if his examples were horribly wrong.
You HAVE to work out the push/pull sets, really. RDLs for hamstrings after squatting, rows for back after benching, pull ups/lat pulldowns for lats after pressing. Seriously, it's so important. Otherwise your stature will get fucked up, and you'll look like a douche.

Nobody said he should stop. Plus I'd say having lots of muscle is pretty useless for the general type of people who would be visiting a StarCraft fansite ('cause you need to be able to lift so much weight to play sc ... srsly)... And because lots of muscle mass pretty disgusting (refer to Phobos' advice).

Also a lot of times I think I should do something to become a bit more fit and not so sedentary, but then I realize how monotonous and mind-numbingly boring it is and end up just saying "fuck that" and sipping my soda and eating mah potato chips. :P Yet I remain underweight (130 lbs at 5'11") ... Curious.
