Back* from the grave

You are put in a scenario where there is a killer. The killer's task is to murder all other players. The objective of the other players is to determine the identity of the killer and murder him or her first.

All actions will be turned in to me via PM, and all turns will be sent out via PM as well. I will do a new turn every day. You do not need to submit actions every turn, but if you miss 2 consecutive turns, then your character will "zone out" and no longer be aware of their surroundings (you can prevent this by sending anything, even something quick like "Stay alert"). Activity checks will be sent out between two weeks and a week prior to the game starting. Replying either in the thread or (preferably) by PM is acceptable.

Additional Information:
  • All players get 3 actions and 1 movement per turn, in whichever order you want to use them. The actions can consist of anything you could do in real life: search the room, scan adjacent rooms, wield a weapon, kill someone, use various objects to setup a death trap, hide under a bed, start a fire, whatever. Your imagination and the confines of reality are the only limits here.
    • Following Azrael's "Badass Rule", it is impossible to not carry out your actions to the extent you specify, if nothing is stopping it and the target is in the same room. However, thrown objects specifically targeting the head of a player in another room have a 5% chance to miss the head and hit the body. This does not apply to firearms or projectile weapons.

    • Any player knocked unconscious by any means forfeits any remaining actions for that turn, and the following turn has one less action due to the first action being used to "revive". That means if you are KO'd in the first action of turn 22, and one action from 23.

  • The movement is simply moving from one room to another. You also have the choice of sprinting, which will allow you to move 2 rooms instead of 1. If you choose to do this, you will not see anything in the room you pass through, and if your second movement is "east" and there ends up being a wall or a closed door there, you will run into it full speed and be knocked unconscious for 1 turn. Sprinting is not advisable unless you know where you're going and you need to get there fast.

  • When you move without sprinting, you can turn light switches on/off in the room you're leaving or entering as part of your movement. It does not require an action. However, this only works if the light switch is beside the door you're exiting/entering from.

  • Since you only get 3 actions and 1 movement per turn, you may want to optimize these actions via "if...then" conditions.
    • For instance, you could say:
      -I search the cabinet's drawers.
-If I find a weapon, then I wield it.
-If I find anything useful, then I take it.
-If I don't find anything, then I rip out one of the drawers and carry it.
-If I found a weapon or pulled the drawer out, then I kill Bob with it.

    • If there is just a gun in the drawer, then the 3 actions will be:

      1) Searching the drawer.
      2) Wielding the gun.
      3) Shooting Bob in the head.

    • In this way, you can use "if...then" conditions to make sure you're using your 3 actions to their fullest potential.

  • Note: The exception to this is the Report action, which is free to use. If you have found irrefutable proof that a player is dead, you have the option of "reporting" their death, and it will not cost you an action. This will make their death official, and I will cross them off the player list. If you cannot definitively identify a corpse or otherwise verify a death, then you will be unable to report it.

  • Turns will progress as specified. In the example above, if Bob were to have his second action being "knock out anyone opening a drawer", he would immediately attack the player as his second action. Two conflicting actions in the same turn will be based off of logic, such that it takes less time to pull a gun's trigger than it does to move to the player's position across the room.

Players that are reported dead are unable to post game-altering information in the thread. With any luck, a good killer will not allow situations in which the player he kills knows the killer's identity arise. In addition, any actions violating SEN's rules (such as sexually violating one's hand and/or another player) will cause instant death. You have been warned.

At the end of the game, I'll give a full description of everything that happened, and dole out mineral rewards for various achievements. If you desire, you may choose to send minerals to me before the game starts. You may specify that you are "gambling to win", or to have your minerals donated to the achievement pot. While donating to "win" gives you 3 minerals per 2 sent, minerals sent to the achievement pot will be matched by me and split proportionally into each achievement (so 100 donated = 200 split).

Also, if you're not sure of what items are in your inventory, or which are equipped, just contact me and I will respond as soon as I see it. Privately, of course. It won't cost an action, and certainly wouldn't hurt you.

Are you going with Asrael's badass rule?

Meaning that, if you throw a knife or fire a gun or something, you're basically always able to hit your target exactly as specified as long as nothing is directly obstructing you.

Find it. It might exist in the scenario, it might not.

I'll assume this means that if you aim for a person's head, you always hit their head, right? Well, considering I stole his OP and added more later...

I may add a 25% chance to miss small body parts and still hit (such as a knife thrown at a head missing and hitting the body) if the target is in another room, it all depends.

Both me and Azrael tried to avoid expressly chance-based gameplay mechanics, but I guess there's nothing wholly wrong with them...

I'll decide later if I'm in or not. These damn things suck away so much of my time when I get into them.

I would, but someone throwing a knife into another room and ALWAYS getting a TKG version of a bluescreen is a little much. Chance-based stuff will probably only apply to extremes like that. A gun or a non-thrown weapon will likely have a 100% chance of hit, but for the simple shit like that it'll get a % to miss if it is thrown into another room. It's simply too much to throw a metal cart around and ALWAYS have it hit heads.

Now I realize this won't be as fun as Azrael's game.

If they don't want to get hit, they should just dodge it. :hurr:
