I'm just going to spam what I know about UI editing and see if anyone else knows stuff so we can perhaps put up a wiki article about it.
UI XML files (.SC2Layout) are stored in C:/Program Files/StarCraft II/Mods/Core.SC2Mod/Base.SC2Data/UI/Layout/UI
Base.SC2Data and after are all stored in the MPQ called Core.SC2Mod.
If you want to modify a layout file, you have to place it in your map MPQ under UI/Layout/UI
The alternate way usees the galaxy editor.
According to the patch notes for 1.2, "UI Layout files can now be added to Mods and Maps using the CustomLayoutFileArray filed in GameUIData. Most existing frames can be modified or overridden and entirely new templates can be added which can be created from the Dialog system within the Editor."

Red classic.
"In short, their absurdities are so extreme that it is painful even to quote them."
I remember watching a YouTube video about this specifically.
Can't find it anymore, though.
So I'm just letting you guys know it exists and it's very well done. >.<
None.

http://www.galaxywiki.net/index.php?title=UI_Editing started a wiki article on it, haven't added much though.

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.
Did someone find out how you can completly hide the InfoPaneUnit and the command buttons?
edit:
ok deleting everything between the frames did the job of hiding that...

Incidentally, if you want to have fewer than 15 buttons in the command panel, you can't just delete them. You have to make them invisible (or not attached to anything) but still technically there in the layout file.

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO
you noob, I did this in the BETA WITHOUT the editor when SC2 wasn't even out.
fuck you all

Same, but they made it so you can't do that anymore. Or at least, not in a published map. Then they released patch 1.2 which went back to allowing UI edits.

I didn't do that in the editor neither because you can't do that in the editor.
Unfortunately, setting everything to invisible didn't succeed, so, with further tinkering I had success.

I don't think that spot under the 2 buttons should be invisible.
