I don't know how many people here would be interested in it, but figured I post about it anyway.
Some pictures of Diablo 3 when it was being made by Blizzard North between 2002-2005 have been released. For those that don't know, Blizzard shut down North due to staff turnover and lack of progress on D3 (after Bill Roper etc left to found Flagship Studios). They essentially rebooted Diablo 3 and took it in a different direction, with 3d models and what we see now.
Blizzard North's version of the game was more of a direct sequel to D2, carrying on with the sprite-based isometric viewpoint, rather than a full 3D engine as they are using now.
Anyway:

None.
Unsurprisingly, the new D3 doesn't even compare to the quality of these old screenshots.
Show them your butt, and when you do, slap it so it creates a sound akin to a chorus of screaming spider monkeys flogging a chime with cacti. Only then can you find your destiny at the tip of the shaft.

Uhh the current D3 has much better graphics than those pictures. Judging from the graphics I am guessing that game must have gone into production like straight after the release of D2.
Those older pictures are definitely more of the same artistic design as D2 though. The current D3 has more of a WoW design, as does all of Blizzard's games these days. They obviously use the same artistic staff for all three franchises?
I hope we get to go to the High Heavens in DS3, that will be sweet.

I'm being serious. As soon as these screenshots were released, so many people were saying "omgosh so much better than the current version" because the the current build of D3 looks too much like "WoW." The thing is the current build looks like a more modern take on a fantasy setting which corresponds to what WoW looks like because of the vibrant colours and less droll settings. There is very little inspiration if any. D:
Then again, Mesk hasn't said it yet so I shouldn't be raging.I wasn't responding to you. When I posted that, actually, I didn't even see your post for some reason.
Also my 2 cents: I played D3 and it was amazing. The graphics blew WoW's out of the water, but I think that's mostly because they're able to get more detail out of D3.

I'm referring more to the art style as a whole and not the color palette. I won't say it looks too similar to WoW, because it doesn't. D3 just looks like a slightly upgraded Mythos and nothing like the originals. Diablo captured me with its atmosphere, something D3 does not have at all in my eyes.
Also, WoW does have some very good art and level design in it if you know where to look. Haven't seen any of that kind of stuff out of d3 yet, but it's not released yet, so I'll reserve my final verdict for when I see the final product.
Rage away bro.
