I've never been to a non-nerd party. What do normal/cool people do at parties? I think people talk and dance (two things I am not good at), and sometimes drink alcohol and do drugs. Is there anything else I'm missing out on? What should I do if I ever get invited to a normal person party?

Every non-nerd party I've been to just has a lot of people drinking (and playing drinking games) and socializing. If you are anti-social, parties are the most boring things on the planet and you'll probably daydream about all the things you could be doing instead. If that isn't the case, just talk to people, make jokes, play games (beer pong, depth charge, 7-11-doubles, etc.), and hang out as you would if you were hanging out with friends.

Socializing and drinks are always good. Most parties I've been to the host provides a couple of hard liquors or mixers and then its BYOB if you want anything else. But you don't really need booze. I've been to many parties that didn't have it. Pick up a game like Apples to Apples or Cranium...those are good party games. Play some music so there's no awkward silence. If people are socializing then its a success

My sister had me go to one of her parties ... Fortunately for me there was an unexpectedly low turnout and I actually knew one of my brother's friends that was there so I had someone to talk to and wasn't just that guy over there in the corner staring at everybody.

As a shut-in, that's all the partying I'll ever need as I have no interest in drinking, socializing with people who I am not already familiar with, or being around more than like 3 people at a time.

Also I am not pleased with the title of "Normal/Cool People". You are implying that we are not cool! >:O For me normal and cool people are the more nerdy-types. Of my friends, I am probably the most calm and, perhaps, normal (given the circumstances).

Whens your next party?

My parties? I don't have parties.
Though, if you really want, there are some liquors in that cabinet over there across the room. It's not locked.

I'm not into gangsta parties. The kind of people I normally hang with are mostly "intellectuals" (but non-nerds) yet very "cool" people. I've never really been to some crazy party (except maybe the After-Prom party).
The parties I go to usually resume into alcohol, music, and socialization. There's always a little group that go take some drugs.
I've never seen people dancing in my parties. People really just most of the time talk to each other.

And, as Devlin said, play drinking games. As Kame said too, we also from times to times get to play "party games" like Cranium and such. In rarer occasions, Twister and Diplomacy pops in. In the case of Diplomacy, it's pretty much induces a "serious" atmosphere to the party and people usually all concentrate on the game and stop drinking/socializing. Still very nice. I love playing Diplomacy/Risk. :3
Chicha is always a very nice activity too.

As of how to get invited to one, I'd say you really have to be an actual good friend of someone who is part of those "normal/cool" people you're talking of.

I'll be honest, btw...I'm kinda over the get drunk/raise hell mentality of a lot of people in my age group. I guess its fun occasionally. I am into the whole micro brew thing, though. I wish I got to do that more often, but I don't think I have any to go with and 'culture' me. Well I guess I know someone I could go with but he's in Korea.

I tend to make friends with everyone at parties because, whenever I am invited, I never know a single person other than the one that invited me.

Some people do not like it, but others will find it amusing when you forcefully enter yourself into a random group's conversation. Keep in mind, I am a shameless individual, and never feel awkward.

It really depends on about what we're talking about. If it's the normal party chatter and joking then you're welcome. If there's trouble to be discussed (e.g. friend having problems with her boyfriend) then I'd not be amused. If you're entering a conversation you should have reliable gut feeling on whether it's a good idea or not.

So what makes a party a 'cool' party? There's a lot of things that add to it, but you don't need all of it.
- cool people (as in they have fun and are not causing trouble) of both sexes
- music
- drinks
- a good location where you can be loud without the police coming
- dancing
- at least a part of it should be outdoors for smokers, grilling, bonfire, "dark corners" and all that good stuff
- food

What you don't need for a good party:
- a reason
- decoration
- parents

first before u go to the P4RTY you gotta get ready wut that means is u find a good tshirt and have tshirt time were u put on ur tshirt. then u gotta do ur hair up all cool and use lotta gel and dont forget to brush ur teeth nd stuff
then wen thats done u go downstairs for the pregame thats were u get ur hole crew together and put the SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS song on and start takin shots
dat way if u get to the party and it sucks u can still be drunk and split and find a party with more beer
on the way to the party u probably gotta piss so just go behind a bush when theres no cops
then once u get to the party you gotta make an entrance so u storm in wit ur crew and take the dance floor for three minutes to show every1 wut u got
next is time to find the alcohol cause u need more after that dance so you find whatevs they got there and if they have any good stuff like that isnt natty u drink that first
now ur ready to party and u just do w/e u want and pick up chicks and stuff but u better hit the gym earlier that day so u look good
and remember ur a guy so u cant get drunk so keep drinking all night
