SC original but with BW?

Is it possible to play the orginal SC campaigns, but with brood war units? (including for the enemy AI's as well)

Too bad the campaign maps aren't in .scm / .scx format :( Has anyone ever like extracted/converted them to such?

I think you need to extract them. Maybe try asking the modders, they can replace the BW campaign with original campaign for you and put it in a mod.

I know it has been done to make the campaign levels playable maps. But I forgot how to find it. Try our DLDB or google.

Awesome tool farty, only 2 problems tho.

In BW, it did not extract the final zerg mission, 10: Omega. My BW CD says it's ver 1.05 if that's useful. Everything else BW seems great.

In original SC, a handful of the maps don't open in either staredit or SCMdraft. It also geve me 12 terran missions (plus the tutorial). And maps that do work often open by saying "this map has 1 or 2 obsolete doodads/misplaced units". My SC CD is also 1.05.

If we need to move this topic to mods or w/e, then ok.

There are a few missions that are in a beta format so they don't load (which is why there is more than 10 terran missions) ... Also, Blizzard placed several doodads off the edge of the map or in illegal places. SCMDraft should open those just fine.

Also, wow. I never noticed that I didn't include ExpZerg10.

EDIT:
Replace data.lst with this version ... Delete the extracted maps still in the folder (or else the program will crash ... I should fix that), and then run the program again.

Terran07 and Terran10 appear to be the unused Terran missions, according to DatEdit.

Ok i did that and got BWZ10.

I noticed something else tho. SC Orginal Prottos mission 10, it doesn't include the terran base at the top left corner (but it does include the protoss base at the bottom right). I scanned through every map and didn't find any other obvious problems.

1 more thing tho. There are actually 2 error msgs

A: "This scenario contains 1 obsolete or misplaced doodads that have been removed." I'm ignoring this 1, it also comes up with a few of the included custom maps, like (8)BridgeToBridge.scm

B: "This scenario contains 1 units that are invalid or not properly placed.
This is most likely a result of a placement error in an older version of the campaign editor.
The invalid units have been deleted."

That B one came up only once: on Original Terran 05. Of course, in SCMDraft it's np, and im still scanning through to see which unit is in 1 but not the other.

edit: found it, it's the bridge! the bridge between the 3 white turrets and the wraith. If you're playing, it's the 2nd bridge u must cross. So It's a bad doodad then. Oh, and the white vulture on that bridge is also gone. Again, scmdraft loads it all fine, and i just tested it and it runs.

I'm concerned cuz in the original extract, a lotta those files came up as not found. The BW extract found every file as far as my eyes could tell. It does scroll by rather fast, but i'm positive that quite a lot of the SC files were not found. It seemed to be mostly wav files but im not sure. Command Prompt cuts off after so many lines and u can't scroll back to the start.

NEway i hope this is helpful and/or nothing to worry about.

O, and this rox cuz now I can put freakin scvs in SCP08 and repair raynor finally!

I just put all the .wavs I found in the listfiles... As long as none of them contain an error (other than just "Not Found") it's all good. If you want to look at the output, it also generates CampaignUtility.log. In mine I see 100 Not Found (I also see a typo. :P).

Yup, file errors were all 0. Nevertheless, I know there is something wrong with Protoss10 because the terran base is not there. But everything else, including the misplaced doodad/units, and the unopenable beta maps, are np.

Wait, do u mean u just changed the listfile again and i hafta replace it and re-extract?

edit: new major error, it seems when modifying these extracted maps, staredit always complains: "error; cannot open map for writing". Odd, because it seems to be saving just fine regardless of that error msg.

no, when I made this I just based the listfile off of one that I found... Some of the .wavs it references are from older versions.

Does SCMDraft have a problem? If not, avoid staredit.

I know it's not exactly related to the OP, but I'll just write it here anyway.

If you make a map in SCMDraft that has no Broodwar units preplaced, you can save it as .scm. Using triggers, create a lurker at a location.

Now, you can host the map on regular battle.net and the lurker will be created. The only problem is that the people that don't have Broodwar installed will drop from the game.

Are you sure it's not you who's dropping? (A common misconception. When everyone drops it's usually you who actually dropped. The rest of the players are still playing on without you.)
Or do you mean people without Broodwar will crash?

Everyone that had Broodwar installed didn't crash (I used to do this with a couple friends.).

Also, since it's a map trigger, it isn't client sided. (It doesn't use EUDs.)

Edit: I guess it's because that people that could run the trigger would stay in the game and the people that couldn't run it would crash. (There was the count down box.)

Yeah, if you see a countdown the other client most likely crashed. When he drops he's just instantly gone like as he manually left the game.
