http://www.staredit.net/images/stareditnet.gifI believe this caught the eyes much better than a static image. What about asking our affiliates to change our logo?
We might want to change the animation a bit too, but the idea is just that it just be animated.
Also, Nibbitz was showing a lot of interest into promoting SEN in their website on the SC2 scene... but we still do not hold any affiliation with them in their SC2 category, only in the SC1. We might want to remedy to this situation and possible ask for a Portal News about it? We'd need to showcase some of our great projects... so I guess I'm counting on Devlin's Invasion for that?
None.
I think each of them chose the banners they wanted to use, unless Jack sent them a couple to choose from. I'm not a big fan of the animated gif, I think it's tacky. And it definitely needs to be redone.
As for Nibbitz, we're listed as affiliates for SC1 and SC2 on the bottom, just not under "Community Sites." I'm submitting SEN to be added there, now. I don't know what good it would do asking them to advertise us unless we have something worth advertising. And the same goes for us.

For one of them I sent a couple to choose from, for the rest I just used the same one, which I believe they're all using now. I asked zeeg to add us to the SC2 affiliates at nibbits because it was only on SC1, dunno if he got round to doing that.
Red classic.
"In short, their absurdities are so extreme that it is painful even to quote them."
Of course, it would be greyscale so it would be distorted as little as possible because .gifs only support 256 colors.
256 colors can actually retain a lot of detail, and for a small icon detail isn't even necessary. Look at SC's graphics, for example.

So? I'm thinking of something that's like 60x30. That's 1,800 possible colors. 256/1,800 = .14222... meaning that I would be reduced to 14% of possible bitdepth. If it's to be a black and white .gif, and greyscale has 256 possible colors, I see no reason to add color and detract from the detail.
That requires every pixel to have a different color. You can have 256 color GIF images without any loss of color information if the source image is fairly static. I also should point out that animated banners are generally annoying. They scream "Web 1.0" and "Oh this site's owner just discovered animated GIFs". Compare:
None.
If it's a black and white .gif, since greyscale has 256 possible colors, I see no reason to add color and detract from the detail.
It's going to have the same bitdepth no matter what you do. Greyscale is probably going to remove more detail since it turns into a colorless blob. Most of the colors will be close enough that you wont be able to distinguish them anyway.. and that size is not large enough for it to matter.

First one looks good, but too dark, indeed. Just try to play with the colors and contrast?
Or you could use StarEdit TV's template:
None.
Devlin should have it in a PSD file.
And yes, you'll have to resize it.
None.
I'm not giving that PSD out, and at such a small size, it really looks terrible.
