The title of the map will be World Simulations - Eurafroaustrasia. The map limit of 256 x 256 was too small to include the Americas.
I hope to make it so that it's more than just a normal diplo map, with extra things like economics, trade routes, pirates, terrorists, infrastructure, UNSC, etc. The point of the map is not world conquest but earning the most amount of points. That way it wouldn't matter if you were to play a weaker or a stronger country.
It really bores me to play other diplo maps where you have to build units and attack and everybody start freaking out the very second game starts, madly clicking.
Eurafroaustrasia will be more about actually feeling and acting like a state with the typical rpg drive of constantly finding new ways to improve your standing.
So far I've done 3/4 the terrain and probably 1/2 the units. I got ships that can only travel in water. Planes travel about 1.5 times as fast as ships, and 2 times as fast as vehicles, which travel about 1.5 times as fast as infantry.
I also reduced the size of the buildings, but I won't with moving units because I didn't like how they looked in the Civilization map.
With the buildings, I am currently trying to figure out how to correct the addon (2 x 2 --> 1 x 1) placements for barracks, starports, and factories that have been reduced to 3 x 2 from 4 x 3.
If anyone of you is interested, I can send the map for your reviewing.

Basically, this is a Civilization map more than a Diplo map, am I right?
Btw, make sure you don't use prohibited country names.
Blizzard do ban maps simply because they contain the word "Irak".
None.
well not exactly. i used to play civ 4 a lot & a complaint i have about that is the need to micro manage so much more every turn as u gain more territory.
In this map only thing you get to micro is the military. You get choices only in big decisions, not small ones.
I think I will copy most of the country names straight from Wikipedia. I don't think there will be a problem with that.

There is: Irak is in Wikipedia, and is a banned word for Blizzard. And there are -a lot- of country names that are banned, in fact.
None.
well is there a list of banned country names? i could get away with "1rA|<" probably
None.
The reason for the country names being inappropriate is because one of the rules is:
"Content cannot have any national connotations."
I don't exactly know what that includes, though.
so isn't that essential saying all diplo maps are ruled out?
i've seen a couple around already, although no one plays them. i think mine will be fine.

Do you mean Iraq?
Fail me... I suck at geography! Like... -really- suck.

I'm almost getting done with the terrain part
which means I got to get onto the harder part now with triggers.
http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/4874/eurafroaustrasia.pnghttp://img7.imageshack.us/img7/4874/eurafroaustrasia.pngThe task seems all the more overwhelming because I've thought of several good ideas in the meantime.
For example the defense drones could be used as flare/chaff ECMs that automatically deploy while draining energy for fighter jets. Planes could fire at slower rate to allow fire and run tactics and group maneuvering as in real air combats. Fighter jets should also have afterburner/supercruise ability so they are able to speed up for certain duration.
IFV's and ships could have load button for loading infantry.
Supply units would provide area fx healing bonus. Once their stock depletes, they convert to unloaded supply units, which then can be easily macroed as group to go back to base to restock. Navy ships can serve as temporary supply bases, which in turn are restocked by supply ships. Infantry that has not been supplied within due duration will slowly drain life until 1 when it stops moving. Vehicles, ships, and planes have a 2nd bar indicating the amount of fuel left for movement. Planes can be given healing bonus when in periphery of a airbase or aircraft carrier.
I think this supply issue is important because it makes the navy that much more useful (since traveling by land is that much slower and inconvenient) & the supply routes must be taken into consideration in devising strategy.
Navy ships (which can only travel by sea) should have long range cruise missiles so they don't become irrelevant.

Just say it is the future and name countries and design borders however you want.
