This is a serious question. I'm watching a discussion in the shoutbox that seems to be arguing over whether or not someone can like making maps but still not produce something for a long amount of time. I think everyone should relax. There's a lot of things I like to do and make that I haven't had time to do lately. Its based on personal preference and time constraints, really.

Nope. It's why I don't make maps.
None.
I do everything as if Ill get paid for doing it. It makes me work faster and makes me care about ths details.
part of the discussion revolved around the developer somehow already having the knowledge that people will or will not play his map.
Even when people present their ideas in a forum and the community gives them negative feedback people still make these maps because they don't know whether people will play them but you would like for them to play it right? So you make it to find out.
Who ever was saying people only map to get some sort of incentive, I agree. But thats because I wonder if anyone can do anything for 'payment'. Is that even possible? Even mother Teresa did all of that because she likes to help people and she gets to see other people happy. Monetary gain isn't the only kind of gain.

Huh? Is that really the tl;dr of the argument? I thought it was about for what reason would people make maps if they don't get anything in return. I must've misread. [notsarcasm]

What if your job is a game?
No. I just make maps as a hobby.
None.
lol nope but sometimes I need a good push to start and finish a map that I want to make. I'm willing for a little bit of work as long as the end result is awesome ;p

That wouldn't motivate me very well.
I love mapping, but look how many maps I've made ... ... I've released like 3.
I lack the proper creativity to come up with fun, interesting and new ideas.

What if your job is a game?
What if life is a game?
What of it? Not like it matters or has anything to do with the topic.

What if I am a game, though? That matters!

Well, MA doesn't have any experience with WCIII or SCII terraining.
Or does he? Good luck if you apply, MA.
None.

As of right now, not really (otherwise I would've applied already).
First I need to make something like... Mini-game Party map (port most or all mini-games from sc1 but with sc2 twists) and perhaps one more map. THEN I can start thinking about this even more
None.
I've worked harder for SC related projects, sites, and clans than I have at any job. Money is nothing.
Honestly, I just make maps for the reactions.
I love them.
I have had tougher jobs than map making.
