The policy wont change. And by now, what would be the point? The game comes out in a few weeks, anyway.
This isn't the first time SC2Mapster has been advertised on the SC Facebook page. The first time they did it, Sixen didn't even know about it. My assumption is they did a quick Google search for SC2 map making communities and chose the first and most active one. Considering SC2M is the only community ever advertised on there, I don't think us hosting the crack would have mattered anyway (considering other SC2 map making communities who do support the crack, are more productive than us, and don't get shown off). Honestly I doubt we'd be any more productive if we had spread it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() CURRENTLY WORKING ON Shadowlands | Demonic: Urban Apocalypse Invasion: Ares | Recon | OMG TEH ZOMBIES!!! |

Guys, you do realize that this is maybe only like 50% up to the site itself?
It's the task of the community to get good members or become good members (-> experienced mappers). All we can do is to provide a better database (yea, our current one isn't the best, I know). But that's it as the forums are alright and better organized than mapster's and stardepots. EDIT: I rechecked stardepot and it is way worse than SEN in matter of forums and general appearance in my eyes. When/If IP finishes the DLDB (and it looks good) we would be better in every aspect than stardepot except for experienced members. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yeah, I was just joking. I think the point I was really trying to make earlier is that despite more people on SEN getting SC2, we'd still have low productivity. We wouldn't really have pulled more members from elsewhere, and we are talking about competing with the entire Curse Network here which far surpasses us in popularity and quantity of users.
I don't really regret sticking with the ban on the crack. I don't see it as hindering us an any way considering everything else that has been mentioned in the thread. As far as I can tell, we haven't lost any members since SC2's beta release. If anything we've gained a few here and there, and that's solely based on how great our community is (rather than what we provide from a map-making standpoint). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() CURRENTLY WORKING ON Shadowlands | Demonic: Urban Apocalypse Invasion: Ares | Recon | OMG TEH ZOMBIES!!! |

This is exactly what Centreri is joking about. We have a great community, but only social networking sites are about community. We are a map-making site. We need to make maps. A good community is just a bonus!

I think the most important point is that supporting or not supporting the crack has nothing to do with any gaps in popularity. Anyone who cares that much about the crack can get the editor through any number of means. The problem is a lack of productivity, not a lack of means to produce.

I think it definitely sent the wrong message and most likely redirected some members away from us. However, you're right, we can't blame it all on that. There are a ton of other factors. Which many people have detailed in great, excruciating detail.
