I think he meant this topic, although it is a bit ambiguous given the context.

While we're at it, there should be a way to karma files in the DLDB's and resource section.

Red classic.

Yeah, but for the user not the file.

We could use the thumb up and thumb down pic like FB, or something sc related.

I'm not too creative, so I can't think of anything.

We wouldn't need a cooldown if a person was allowed to rate a comment once.
There could be a certain mod for karma in each category.

idk. Just giving some thoughts.

You should only be able to rate once, but you're free to change your rating. For example, the karma system in epicmafia allows you to +2 someone, -1 someone, or go back to 0.

Whatever you do, don't put the words "Karma" there. Keep it at + or -.

And the point I was making was that this system would apply to every post everywhere, not just the first post.

I think like/dislike is best. Most ppl are familiar with that from facebook. Karma's not as cool.

Yeah, "karma" implies that things'll happen, rewards'll be received. Ya know, "what goes around comes around".

Maybe it should be called reputation rather than karma.

I gave Will +1 Karma for the rep suggestion, but I wonder how many people would have noticed under normal circumstances?

I wouldn't've seen it if you hadn't announced it. Karma/Like/Rep needs to be made much more obvious.

Jakob Nielsen has an article that describes why karma is so unnoticeable, and how to fix it. Basically, the horizontal positioning is all wrong. We need Karma/Rep about 200-300px inward from the left for optimal attention, given a viewer with a 1024x768px monitor.

>be faceless void >mfw I have no face

I'm spreading karma awareness, but it needs to be moved so it's directly above my signature. So, what cobb said.

Don't call it reputation. I know I have a larger reputation than a random nubbie with 0. :P

A reputation can be good or bad. Reputation = absolute value of karma. So you're covered.

But-but-but- what if it suddenly shoots up? That wouldn't make sense!
