Hey guys!
Remember when I got banned and see that now I return with a globe?

First of all, when I left I didn't particulary thought that SEN would reach this critical state in which it's in right now. I'm hoping to help out and try to improve what SEN is and maybe, just maybe, bring back some of the things we had back then in 2004.
I'd like to let you know that this does not mean that doing something that gets you banned increases your chances on becoming an admin, this shouldn't also serve as an example of "Do wrong and get away with it". It is not the case, and I want to make this very clear.

Second of all, I'd like to tell you what my functions really are. Yes, I do have a globe but it's only a matter of further identification in between the community. This means that I CAN NOT, I repeat I CAN NOT moderate, ban, make you elite, give mass severity, handle file reports or anything at all. I personally would like YOU to be my judge, if I, for some reason, do any of these, tell IP, and he'll ban the hell out of me again. I do, though, have the powers of a Global Moderator that will serve me only to handle news topics and most likely spotlights in portal and such.

What am I going to do?
Well, I'm going to adapt the points made in the CPR SEN to the powers I've been assigned and I will be implementing several of the CPR aspects right away. Not next month, not when IP finishes the new DB but as soon as possible.

What I need from you?
Well, I obviously need CONTENT from you guys. You know, content we can show off and brag, try doing your best, always your best and (I say this after checking the development forum) please, just please, add at least one of two screenshots of your current projects. Further on videos are always a plus, tutorials on what and how you did it are even better and don't even get me started on video tutorials.

As a future architect I kind of make plans. Planning is my thing, I will be presenting you a master plan on my future work soon but as for now this topic should serve to handle all hate comments towards me, all congratulations and of course, all the questions you've got.

Everything you say contributes, believe me, even hate comments!

Personally I find it repulsive that, less than a month ago was it? you went and spammed severity and made a big scene about leaving SEN, and now you're back with a globe, which has always been a mark of respect in my book. You at least owe an apology to us, which I will accept in the form of doing a damn good job in whatever role this is that you've created.

Good luck and do a good job Corbo. You have my support.

To be fair, it was something that was corrected in a few keystrokes. A douchebag move perhaps, but it could also be taken for teh lulz. This once, I am inclined to forgive.

I'm going to open a can of worms by saying this, but I can't help but feel that choosing Corbo as the PR rep is very biased. He was banned, and hasn't been able to show any activity here on SEN. While he has great ideas, I feel that this choice was based primarily on him being the suggestor, and his SENiority (lol what a pun!).

Nevertheless, I think this is an overall good choice. But I want to address some stuff.
Even though Corbo may be pretty clear on what to do already, I want to stress that this PR rep position really needs to show its face to the community.
There hasn't been much actual playing and community-based activity from most of the Staffs here. Merrell rarely goes on, Ex only goes on for kicking and banning, IP recently started showing up, but only after moose leaves :C... etc. etc.
I think that the PR rep needs to actually BE with the community, and not just be behind everyone and guess what people like. If Corbo gets the position, I insist that he needs to actually PLAY Sc1 or Sc2 enough to get a feeling of what's going on, and what can be done. From all the staff, I've felt that this is lacking the most.
PR rep should also have some control over rewards to give incentives for activities... bring back the minerals, and let the PR handle most of it.

Obviously, not all positions are required, or even intended, to be community-based.. but the PR rep definately is, and I hope that Corbo can fill this part of the bargain as well.

It is a not-so-recent article on Social Power and how it affects people's cognition.
Let me sum it up for you...

Basically, people with high social power are "Approach-Orientated" - which basically means they have/are:

• Autonomous Cognition
  
• Reward Focused
  
• disinhibition
  
• Positive affect (mood/desire/pride)
  

While low power people are "Inhibition-Orientated".. which have opposite affects.

I think that most people who are into gaming, and ultimately, people who may visit this site, are looking for that positive affect. We play games to escape, to feel positive, and to achieve goals and rewards. Not only will approach-orientated cognition reinforce creativity through autonomous (aka automatic) thinking, but its positive affect will attract others to join us. For this reason, I feel that our behaviours and attitudes should be geared more to the "Approach-Orientated" way of thinking.
To achieve this, we need people to be more reward focused. We must have lesser punishments, and support ingenuity, creativity, and even mistakes. Whether you like it or not, this all rounds back to the staff (ex n mrl in particular). Basically, I'm trying to describe what part of the attitude that you can change to make the community better.
So far, most things are dealt with swift punishment, and I think this isn't good. I think we need to give more second chances, like to Corbo and Devilesk. I think we need to be more reward-orientated, like bringing back minerals... We also need to support good habbits/posts, like encouraging people to work on the wiki, rather than focus on stopping abuse and arguing against Sixen.
Punishment is, obviously, required, but I think we need to shift gear and look at things in a more approchable manner.

Though I agree with you for the most part, the major concern with devilesk being unbanned was that he's had many second chances. For us (and this is something we constantly discuss in the staff forum), we have to look at each case individually and really ask how many times it takes for someone to get that they can't act a certain way. Almost every person who has been banned has their own topic where we discuss the pros and cons to bringing them back. Devilesk is being completely supportive and a great asset to SEN right now, but he is always this way after he's unbanned. Typically a month or two in, he stops caring and ends up where he started. Our hope this time is that he remains as awesome as he has been so it doesn't come to that again.

While you make some good points UU let me tell you that I am in no way detached from the community. I've always been known and very active by it, more over when I left SEN I was already doing SC2 stuff when you guys weren't even considering and kept doing more even while homeless. I started many projects that ran into being on hold due to technological issues, I didn't have the editor back then, but now we all do (hopefully?).

I should probably make a post on what I've been doing while not on SEN.

We need someone, and Corbo seems the best choice we have. Screw the past, yay Corboe!

First of all, SEN is in a critical state. Regardless of whether corbo couldn't "stay away" or not, we need all the damned help we can get, and you acting the way you are doesn't help the community at all.

Second, even if he abused those powers, to what avail would it be? He would just be banned and we'd be no more injured than we were before.

Truth is, we need to start doing shit and doing it well, SEN needs to at least LOOK like it's not vacant (other than the Null and below). There's like a total of 20 topics in the SC2 mapping bits. I would -love- to contribute to it but I lack sc2 (and refuse to pirate it). I should probably go to gamestop soon.

Honestly, everything in the world is not all "sunshine lollipops and rainbows!". Sure, SEN is in a bad state but is Corbo making it better? Maybe, but he is causing quite a stir.
Yeah, yeah. SEN needs all the publicity it can get. Why should Corbo be the New PR Admin? Why can't it be JaFF or Farty or Moose or something?
SEN is so easy to lead. Now if you excuse me, I am going to go tell SEN that I hacked their database and that I am the new Admin and watch people like you believe me.

*Yes, I am aware that he is not an admin, but he immediately gets this power after he has abused it before and after he gets banned.

You are way too new to know what type of character Corbo is. Nor any of SEN's veterans.

Second, I came back cause I was asked for help, I said that if help was needed all they had to do is ask. It wasn't easy to break my own words and promises but it was harder to say no to IP.

Third, Have I seen any of your work for SEN? For SC2? For SC1? I don't think so.
