Overall, it is hard to balance it for 1v2 switching to 1v1 but for 1v2 alone you really, really require that extra 15-20% bonus. I leave any DS maps where it is 1v2 due to there being no bonus thus meaning that I end up looking like a total noob if I keep playing :P.


well i would love play vs you and partner 1v2 in a map that i find balanced(so i pick random) or a map that i know so i can choose the upper race.. xd im having no trouble in winning 1v2 without bonus

Not at all, our map uses specials during lots of games unless we play complete noobs. Then yes, specials don't get used :) But anyways i would second that. I would gladly play you 1v2 as well any map on non expansion and i would even go as far as letting you choose my race :P Thats how confident i am that 1v2 or even 1v3 isnt unbalanced. I'm also on US West.

But hold on, didnt you just say in your previous post that you would leave any game that doesnt have a 15-20% mineral bonus because the outcome of it would make you look like a complete noob? So what would it matter which map GG chooses as long as there isnt any 15-20% bonus its an instant win for the team with more players according to your theory.

No I didn't? o.O Either way, that theory was talking about DSN. Other maps have different things effecting it. Honestly, I just want to drop this topic, have this map get one more update, and finally just have fun playing DSN :)

Hey, here's a couple things i noticed that makes the game less perfect.
Science vessels won't emp in early game even though it's upgraded (I had full science vessels with emp once at start of a game and they wouldnt emp, that's pretty sad cuz it would be a great strategy imho)

Banshees are completely out of the game's balance, making them near useless.. they'd need either to spawn more (like 2 with a bit less dmg maybe) or have more hp...
,
Stalkers often die before even having the chance to shoot, I think the slow shooting rate should be taken into account and the unit be given more hp cuz of that... Like goliaths are faster but have about the same hp, that's unequal.

Also, why can't we insta someone else's spawn?

Stalkers are also very cheap, and once you get the range upgrade their chances of shooting before they die is really quite a lot higher.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this. Do you mean use an insta-spawn for your ally? You actually can do that: you can pick up your ally's insta-spawn and use it on their beacon, paying the cost to spawn their units - good if they're a newb or saving up or gassing or something. However you can't take your insta spawn to their base as that could be unbalanced (eg, in a 3 player game you can't use 3 insta-spawns on player 1's spawn).

From a player that does all races but is best at T and P :

I have to say that armories are pretty awesome to watch in action. I've faced some really good terrans that can pull off a good armory/starport strategy where late game it mostly becomes trying to figure out what units could possibly splash over 70 wraiths/banshees with vulture/marine(sometimes depots or reapers or combination of all 3) support. It is amazing how flexible terran is right now.

I feel like protoss is very bad at being terran with their ground though. You are forced to go pretty fast air or watch yourself melt to the cheap terran ball. I also think that you may have nerfed the goons(I know, you don't want a goon wall) a bit too much. If you follow the current "best" strategies you find that a lot of units aren't used by protoss other than for getting heros/teching up. These include but are not limited to:
Templars of all kinds (Unless the terran goes bio only which rarely ever happens)
Goon/Zeal. These both are used very early on at times by some protoss but most just go void rays or reavers.

If banshees are valkyries then you should take a look at wiki units stats, making banshee/valkyrie a good unit would ruin up terran.. since their attack is uses up most sprites of all units = when sprite limit is reached(not same as map max) then valkyries banshess dosent do any dmg anymore.. if making them good unit it should only be to shield (a unit that takes dmg for other units) while other units can attack.. so yes i agree on more hp but not higher amounts rather less amount would make terran better..

i agree that u made a nice version of ds --- tho i find specials used alot and uneven number player bonus weird --- still is very playable with really nice effects.. you made a good job on those.. i played your map plenty times and i find it nice to play not a long ds game tho.. the only downsides i find is that tactics dosent variate to much and game gets weird on player leaving.. else i enjoy playing it.

lol yes, and i still maintain my original input of extra income making the game unbalanced.

I played 3 matches today, just for shits and giggles. 2 of them were 2v1 and 1 was 3v1. Let's keep in mind i can count on one hand going into those matches how many times i've played ds night.

All 3 of those matches i maintained a push the entire game (even while gassing), used 0 booms and 0 insta spawn. I'm sure i'll hear you were probably playing noobs then, in which case i'll just say give it a shot for yourself and watch how easy it is to win.

It took a while finding people willing to stay btw, so if you have friends on bw, i suggest testing with them if you can.

@Lanthanide - I have not read up on this thread in some time but I noticed a glitch that just happened in my last game. Heres the details, It was mid game. I went to boom. The same instant my boom went off, the other teams spawn went off. It was Protoss' spawn. No terran buildings were built in his area, and a mass amount of marines spawned with his spawn. It was such a large mass of marines it lagged the game for a moment. Also, the only terran that was on his team had 1 building for marines. If you would like to see a replay, I saved one for you. Just pm me if you want it.

Maybe the early units are not on the vessel's EMP attack list?? Would make sense...

Funny that it was just what I did when trying to prevent flying buildings from flying... though that was still through iscript/AICE - set the flingy speed to 0 after each liftoff (as it's reset to a hardcoded value each time the building lifts off)
