Recently I've had a real Resident Evil craving, however I've played just about all of them so many times I go to play one of the many I own and then go 'Eh, naw.'. I was wondering if any other games, (preferably on PC,) that are similar to the pre-RE4 games, have been made and any recommendations anyone could give would be quite helpful.
Also note I'm on my backup PC with an AGP GeForce 4, so I'm looking for something this shitbox can handle.

I've thought a bit about it and the only thing that comes to mind is the
Alone in the Dark series. But I haven't played them so I'm not sure if they are any good.
However not really similar to RE one of the best games from that time time are:
- Deus Ex (somewhat similar to Mass Effect)
- Unreal 1, preferably gold edition (yeah I know it's a plain shooter but with an incredible atmosphere.)
- Thief: The Dark Project (not much of a fighting game, but very exciting gameplay and story)
I've thought a bit about it and the only thing that comes to mind is the

I have played the newest one, and it is... so... horrible...
the controls were very,
very off, and everything was so predictable, you'd swear you were an oracle. I'm not sure about the older ones though.
My suggestion to you would be the early Silent Hill games, preferably the second one. They had a nice atmosphere and story, and they all have PC versions.
None.
You do not have to go too far from the Capcom tree. There is always Dino Crisis.
It has been awhile since I have played them, but I still like the second game over the first.
For some reason I am not really thinking about the horror elements, but I am think about games with fixed camera angles and pre-rendered, unobtainable objects.
None.
I've played Dino Crisis and I love them dearly but I've played them all many times as well.
I was considering Silent Hill as well but most of the good ones are for playstation rather than PC, and the PC ports haven't always been done so well.
If I recall, Resident Evil 5's DLC: Lost in Nightmares tries to stay true to Resident Evil 1 while using Resident Evil 5 formula. Especially that there is an easter egg to allow the camera stay true (Only at the beginning) to the first three Resident Evil games (Though much harder to aim) and opening doors goes first person. Though about 30 minutes to an hour long, it does have its puzzles and has plenty of replay value. I do enjoy trying to get a higher score, without dying, and beating it faster.

None.
Fatal frame sorta
Instead of zombies it's ghosts
Instead of weapons it's a camera
Anyways what are you looking for when you say "like RE"? The fixed camera? the horde survival with puzzles? Dead space is pretty much RE4-5 in space. Don't take me word for it but I think System shock is a good game thats like RE. I THINK but I do not know for sure as i havenet played it myself but from what i hear it is.
Theirs also the Doom series and Duke nukem 3D. Check out the indie/under appreciated thread to getting your hands on Duke without some old DOS port or w/e and to play Duke nukem 3D in "high definition"
None.
On an unrelated note, does anyone know where to find used games for cheap besides Ebay? Is there like a used games site? I'm trying to get the following RE games for gamecube: 0, 2, Code Veronica X, 4. I had 4 and 0 but my friend borrowed them and I never got them back.
