You seriously want me to find examples of cases where there are two ways of downloading something?
And clicking on a title to download something is just... a standard!

Payne is actually right about the download thing. We probably should make the title clickable (in addition to having a button, for those who don't realize the title isn't clickable, as that could be an easy thing to miss, depending on implementation).

The warning message is supposed to be in red. If it fit with the green theme, it'd be easier to miss. Our goal is to become more active and awesome when SCII comes out, and that will likely lead to an influx of new members. By having a warning that stands out, we can avoid the same comments (complains about common glitches, problems, etc., that are not always the mapmaker's fault) from being made on tons of files.

And in the draft I gave Dev, the More Images box was both shrinkable (limits height, adds vertical scrollbar) and completely collapsible, using two buttons on its header. Only reason it isn't now is because the JS for it isn't implemented yet. With Dev's approval, I can start modifying the JS to work on SEN.

And many thanks for implementing this, Dev. (And for putting up with my phailure at PHP :P ) I was very pleasantly surprised (understatement!) when I refreshed the DLDB and saw it. (Firefox refused to actually display the update until it occurred to me to Shift+Refresh, plus I never saw this topic, so this is the first I've heard or seen of my changes being successfully implemented!)

My point was that the NB is very easy to miss... it isn't eye-catching or anything. It should really stand out of the rest and this is why I wanted it to be into an othere color-theme.

A small preview of what I've done today.
Almost done with this part.

Thanks to david for the template.
And yea, there will be image-titles... finally :)

- Make the title "Underwater RPG" clickable for a download. Probably
- Please set outlines to every category on the left (Units, Strings, Locations, Triggers, etc.). Yea...
- Make "More Images" reducible (with the little "+" / "-" to the right). I was planning that
- Make the left cadre larger (I hate seeing things like a single "pm" on its own line just because it didn't have enough space to fit the cadre). ...I said it wasn't done
- Increase the 'Force names limit' by 3 characters. Needs further testings
- Where is the rating system? I liked the stars at the top right of the main cadre. Stars on the right top where ugly. Rating possibilty is not done yet.
- Seriously fix that "reload page" (when we click on anything inside the NB)... at any cost! -.- stop repeating
- Make the two lines (the one shown right under) that contain main and sub-categories have larger boxes. They just look retardedly small and people will wonder why the NB is so large if only 20% of it is being used by the most important part of it. One reason is to avoid line breaks in smaller resolutions and it is fully skin related, even the width and height. I'll post the new css files somewhen so people can edit them for me if they feel like it :)
Quote
* UMS
* Campaigns
* Melee

* Assault
* Board & Card Games
* Bounds
* Defense
* Micro
* Movie
* Puzzle
* RPG
* Strategy
* Others

EDIT: Btw, you are wondering about the NB fitting the skin... That "Warning" message is in red, nothing much fitting the green-themed skin ;)
what? seriously, red never fits green or blue or whatsoever but always been used in posts and topics reports. Warnings are red on purpose.

You do not need to work :) I'll implement the box-features :)
And actually I have to say thanks: this layout is one of the best I have ever seen, unlike the DLDB 1.

But I've got a task for you! Edit the CSS to enlarge the left side (image, table, forces...) to 300-400 pixels in width :)

Posting the CSS is a great idea, Devourer!
Luckily, I had basic courses of Web-Programming (including CSS) last year.
CSS is in fact rather simple and so wise :)

EDIT:
One last thing, I forgot to repeat myself (I'll choose an other one this time): re-use the exact same design of cadres as the old one for the Forces part.
kthxbai, slave.

"Add my SEN account as an original author of the file"... I actually want to remove this with the Author-textfield in which you can enter the author's name.
Any objections?

Also, should I remove the reviews section and fully fuse it with the DLDB?

Hmm... I think the page looks "empty" in a maximized browser. What do you think about putting the "More images" table under the map description (below the Warnings box)?

There needs to be something in the red circle, otherwise it feels empty:

Hmm... Yeah, I hadn't designed for widescreens. See, I'd used a custom-made replica of SEN's layout (100% my code, and images I made/edited) to put my DLDB draft in, and in my replica (which was more focused on new code than on an accurate recreation of SEN), I'd simply CSS'd the page so that it would have a flexible width with a minimum of 800px and maximum of 1024px. In widescreen browsers, it'd simply be centered, with padding. (IIRC Carbonite does this.)

But then, the same issue exists on many sites, as widescreen is not yet standard. While it'd be nice to fix it, it's not exactly necessary.

As for the large height of the infobox compared to the description... I did this deliberately, to encourage longer, more detailed descriptions.

@Dev:
I could set up the More Images box functionality without doing any work at all, as I've already done it. :P All I'd need you to do in that regard is upload a file, some JS, and some CSS. But if you want to do it on your own, here's how. (Along with some other JS-related improvements that can be made.) (I'll try to keep each one short, as I know you don't have all day to screw around with code :P )

+
For the images box, don't use the same JS that's used with the other collapsible boxes on the site.

+
Change the JS tabs to normal links with additional JS.

+
Merge the Rating display and the rate-this-file bit into one widget.

[1] Think about the potential implications of this, if you used this elsewhere... You wouldn't need a whole folder for topic icons, or a whole folder for any set of related images... Granted, you can't resize them through code (as they'd just tile) (but the browser's zoom will work just fine), but they all become fully skinnable, and it's all IN ONE FILE!

Good news: Titles are clickable.

1) Make the rating system clearer. Right now, it's right under the map's main thumbnail and it's just... so hidden! D= (Even worse than DLDB ver. 1)
2) You should make the cadre of the file's (map's) description clearer. As it is right, the description text just seems out of nowhere. As others said, find a way to make it look filled even if there's nothing much entered as the description.
3) Make the separation outlines of [Download, Trigs, etc..] darker (or simply... dark).
4) Make the space between the "Warning" and the description a bit bigger.

Oh you think? You really want me to ask SEN members again and waste my time? I swear those "green separations" are bad.
Do not forget my 4) Make the space between the "Warning" and the description a bit bigger.

I'll make the poll thread right now. ^^

5) Highlight the actual label (if we are under "Edit", highlight it, etc...) <-- talking of [File info/Edit/History/etc.]
6) Make a 'Submit' button that submits all infos from the 'Edit' label (images, file update, description, etc...) <-- I repeat it just to make sure you remember it (seriously, I am not only just trying to get you mad. I've you'd make a thread for the DLDB progress and would compile all ideas into the main post and stroke them once they are done, I'd stop doing so ;o)
