I saw this in someone's online blog...on one of those annoying sites like xanga. Well, what do you think peace is? There are many ways of looking at it...there's inner peace, there's world peace...the scale is up to you. What do you think overall describes peace in its purest form? This is not in serious discussion, because let's face it...you fools are going to take this beautiful topic and rip it into a monstrosity.
I think it is mutual fear and loathing. Who's going to provoke someone if everyone is trigger happy?
Peace: The normal, nonwarring condition of a nation, group of nations, or the world.

For once, I agree with Centreri.

Peace = The absence of War
None.

So you agree with their definition of a "normal" country is that which is nonwarring? Have you looked into the past of Humanity? Most nations have spent the majority of their existence in peace. Wars generally don't last long enough to make up a significant fraction of the past. The Hundred-Years War was an exception. Also it wasn't constant fighting.
None.
But you will agree that fighting is in the genetic makeup of humankind, will you not? Otherwise, would we have started a world war over the assassination of one man? Why else do we prefer buying violent video games over the Chess and Solitaire that everyone has free on their computers?
And I know someone is gonna argue that the games that come with a computer are not free. True, they are not. But he who buys a computer does not do so for the built-in gaming opportunities.
That's not war, that is merely strife.
None.
So you're telling me you guys lack the depth to come up with your own definition of peace...?
Relatively ancient and inactive
That WAS my own definition. Just because it's also technically correct doesn't make it someone elses. Peace isn't an abstract concept. You can't go around redefining it. Just like I can't ask you to come up with your own definition of a cat.
None.
And yet there still are multiple definitions of "pussy".
"Pussy" is a word. Pussy is a thing to which the word "pussy" refers.
None.
So you're telling me you guys lack the depth to come up with your own definition of peace...?
Apparently, none noticed the fine print in my post.
...
Peace: To go without disturbance.
None.
Going with the majority of definitions of peace above, whether they are right, wrong, whatever, strife = lack of peace.
No, the definitions of peace above were:
Peace: The normal, nonwarring condition of a nation, group of nations, or the world.
Lack of conflict.
Peace = The absence of War
The majority said that peace was the absence of war. Strife is "angry or bitter disagreement; conflict.". Strife is not war.
.'. Strife is not lack of peace.

It's as if you're surprised.
Most people here aren't going to understand the point of your topic and what you're actually trying to do with it. Unfortunately. This one is a little too hard for me to do right now without any sleep or extra time. And it's not something that's just going to pop out to me anyway. it would have to involve a long discussion that i don't think i want to get in here - not now.
As for what's been posted so far... it seems the closest we've seen to an actual slash suitable definition is 'lack of conflict' which grossly oversimplifies the matter.
None.
You're one to talk about defining peace.
Plus you
missed a spot, nub.
