[2014-8-27. : 12:08 am] lil-Inferno -- The castles are more or less towns, and the towns next to the docks are basically connected to the town north or south of it. The point of that was because I was gonna have a little cutscene where you sail across to make the world seem larger than it actually is. Like you're arriving at a new continent even though it's actually just across from you but out of sight. [2014-8-26. : 11:48 pm] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- There are little things next to the docks, but I don't think they look like towns [2014-8-26. : 11:42 pm] Wing Zero -- " "Xlil-InfernoDDD -- I think I still have the world map image from the RPG I was working on like two years ago." I generated a new one: http://i.imgur.com/7epB8EC.png " That just reeks of random encounters [2014-8-26. : 11:35 pm] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- gimme all the art and aseets and things I'll screw around a bit [2014-8-26. : 10:50 pm] lil-Inferno -- Sort of a way to reflect on the game, the journey you were just on, and the places you went to on that journey, y'know? lul [2014-8-26. : 10:50 pm] lil-Inferno -- I remember it took for-fucking-ever to properly animate the clouds, even though all they do is scroll to the left. I was gonna have little holes in the clouds that showed the world map from miles high in the air, and it would scroll parallax to you. [2014-8-26. : 10:48 pm] lil-Inferno -- Actually come to think of it, I think some huge tropey sky tower was supposed to be there. It would look like this: http://i.imgur.com/A1tWHNp.png [2014-8-26. : 10:41 pm] lil-Inferno -- "O)FaRTy1billion -- What's with the big black hole?" I never fully wrote out the storyline, but that black hole would lead to some final dungeon/boss place thingy. [2014-8-26. : 10:38 pm] Wing Zero -- @DevliN I'd take you up on that offer just as an excuse to move to California [2014-8-26. : 10:31 pm] Fire_Kame -- I don't want to be employed though. I want to sit in my room and cry. [2014-8-26. : 10:28 pm] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- ":DevliN: -- "Fire_Kame -- ":DevliN: -- but the job thing is covered" I'm unemployed!" Come to California. I'll hire you to be my assistant." Hey, I wanted that job. [2014-8-26. : 10:22 pm] lil-Inferno -- I don't think something like that has been done before for a JRPG style RPG. [2014-8-26. : 10:22 pm] lil-Inferno -- Maybe even procedurally generate the map so it's random (with some limitations, like certain towns being within range of each other) every time you start a new game. [2014-8-26. : 10:20 pm] lil-Inferno -- I'd probably double the world map's dimensions, too, so it'd be 256x256 instead of 128x128. [2014-8-26. : 10:18 pm] lil-Inferno -- I personally think it's shit now but at the time I wanted to make a poster out of it and put it on the wall in my room. Maybe some day I'll go back to it and start from scratch, since at the time it suffered from my inexperience C|:^ ) [2014-8-26. : 10:18 pm] lil-Inferno -- "Xlil-InfernoDDD -- I think I still have the world map image from the RPG I was working on like two years ago." I gave up on sfml when I realized it just used openGL and I could openGL just as well by myself. [2014-8-26. : 8:55 pm] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- well it will, but it just sits with an empty console window that takes forever to even close [2014-8-26. : 8:55 pm] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I was using sfml for this particular thing, and anything that requires sfml just won't run. [2014-8-26. : 8:52 pm] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I think the library I use must rely on an older version of some runtime or something :\ |
