IMO, C++ seems more "powerful" but has a lot more "quirks". In my admittedly limited experience, the ratio of time spent being productive versus time spent fighting with the language is better in Java. (Then again, I started working with Java after C++, so I'm sure that's a factor.) And everything they do manipulate, like dialing numbers to teleport or get weapons is done on a computer terminal, apparently by entering code.
