[2014-12-05. : 3:19 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- dunno. I read a thing saying that it is technically possible, but way more complicated
[2014-12-05. : 3:15 am]
Moose -- Can you use JNI to call C++ on android?
[2014-12-05. : 3:08 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Jack
Jack shouted: moose I prefer C++ to Java
Oh how I wish I could use c++ instead of java, but android doesn't let me :(

Sand Wraith -- Jack
Jack shouted: Sand Wraith But that completely avoids the question Nude asked
The point is that it depends on the motive and target of the hacking.
[2014-12-05. : 12:47 am]
jjf28 -- now we say, goodbye; now we say, that you didn't try
[2014-12-05. : 12:28 am]
Jack -- Sand Wraith
Sand Wraith shouted: NudeRaider a better question is whether the system is ethical.
But that completely avoids the question Nude asked
[2014-12-05. : 12:26 am]
jjf28 -- lol NSA
[2014-12-05. : 12:17 am]
Sand Wraith -- e.g. I have utterly no faith in NSA using PRISM ethically and would love to see it annihilated before it results in further colonialism
[2014-12-05. : 12:15 am]
Sand Wraith -- NudeRaider
NudeRaider shouted: what's ethical about breaking into a system without authorization?
a better question is whether the system is ethical.
[2014-12-05. : 12:15 am]
Dem0n -- You can look into my D :teach:
[2014-12-04. : 10:28 pm]
Moose -- Jack
Jack shouted: moose I prefer C++ to Java
Jack
Jack shouted: With C++ I can pretend I'm still using C but take advantage of C++ stuff when I want to
They each have their pros and cons. IMO, C++ seems more "powerful" but has a lot more "quirks". In my admittedly limited experience, the ratio of time spent being productive versus time spent fighting with the language is better in Java. (Then again, I started working with Java after C++, so I'm sure that's a factor.) I think I might look into D or something, even though it's nowhere near as popular as the other two.
[2014-12-04. : 10:24 pm]
Moose -- :wob:
[2014-12-04. : 9:15 pm]
jjf28 -- to meet their equal opportunity quota?
[2014-12-04. : 9:13 pm]
*Sacrieur shrugs*
[2014-12-04. : 9:13 pm]
Sacrieur -- Why do they keep her in the party?
[2014-12-04. : 9:13 pm]
Sacrieur -- Except Hilary, she's going to vote conservative despite registering herself as a democrat. I don't get that.
[2014-12-04. : 9:12 pm]
jjf28 -- #politics
[2014-12-04. : 9:09 pm]
Sacrieur -- I think it would be too difficult to pay off both parties to get a copyright bill passed. If you pay off one party, the other party is automatically going to oppose it regardless of the bill's contents.
[2014-12-04. : 9:07 pm]
Sacrieur -- copyright*
[2014-12-04. : 9:06 pm]
Sacrieur -- /should/ of course, how much Apple can get away with pushing their agenda remains to be seen. So far things like jailbreaking are in limbo.
[2014-12-04. : 9:05 pm]
Sacrieur -- Ultimately it doesn't matter what copywrite laws say, personal ownership should trump it.
[2014-12-04. : 8:33 pm]
jjf28 -- for describing black hats :) http://www.007james.com/i/actors/goldfinger/harold_sakata/random-task.jpg
[2014-12-04. : 7:59 pm]
jjf28 -- ne ways if you're a grammerist, fix my definition :D
[2014-12-04. : 7:56 pm]
jjf28 -- oh you're talking mostly "person X rooting his own phone", not much unethical there, "person Y disseminating a root method" is more interesting
[2014-12-04. : 7:46 pm]
Sacrieur -- you don't own the "software", but you do own the bits that make up the software
[2014-12-04. : 7:40 pm]
jjf28 -- perhaps, but you don't own the software per say and harm can be done so theres still room for analysis
[2014-12-04. : 7:32 pm]
Sacrieur -- You own the phone, you may modify it and its software in any way you wish.
[2014-12-04. : 7:32 pm]
Sacrieur -- that's completely ethical
[2014-12-04. : 7:32 pm]
Sacrieur -- that's not grey hat
[2014-12-04. : 7:31 pm]
jjf28 -- i'll be looking at alot of grey-hat material such as hactivism, rooting phones, even my own work with starcraft
[2014-12-04. : 7:28 pm]
jjf28 -- we're using several ethical perspectives including kantianism, act utilitarianism, and rule utilitarianism
[2014-12-04. : 7:27 pm]
jjf28 -- do you know about the hacker hats? :)
[2014-12-04. : 7:27 pm]
NudeRaider -- what's ethical about breaking into a system without authorization?
[2014-12-04. : 7:25 pm]
jjf28 -- also "proper" might be redundant, not sure...
[2014-12-04. : 7:23 pm]
jjf28 -- i'm kind of iffy on that last comma, but without it "retrieve information" isn't paired as well with "without proper authorization"
[2014-12-04. : 7:22 pm]
jjf28 -- how bout: Seeking for, or exploiting vulnerabilities in computer systems that can be used to retrieve information or manipulate the system, without proper authorization.
[2014-12-04. : 7:21 pm]
jjf28 -- oh man, none of the dictionary definitions suit my presentation on ethical hacking, time to invent my own
[2014-12-04. : 6:20 pm]
NudeRaider -- under $10 for dvd burner. Soon they are cheaper than the raw materials needed to create it
[2014-12-04. : 6:19 pm]
NudeRaider -- and yes. it is a bit unrealistic ;)
[2014-12-04. : 6:18 pm]
NudeRaider -- Well he can't bend his own head, but he can bend everything in the matrix. Including how he appears in the matrix. That's his power.
