Vrael -- Also also I don't really try to install things on Linux that weren't meant to be installed on Linux
[2021-2-11. : 4:00 pm]
NudeRaider -- I know. But it was convenient. ;)
[2021-2-11. : 4:00 pm]
Vrael -- I am also talking out my ass for the lulz so
[2021-2-11. : 3:34 pm]
NudeRaider -- *why it's so hard to install
[2021-2-11. : 3:34 pm]
NudeRaider -- maybe that's the reason to install current stuff
[2021-2-11. : 3:33 pm]
Vrael -- NudeRaider
NudeRaider shouted: If you think Windows is bad in that regard, try linux
what are you talking about? linux hasn't changed since 1996
[2021-2-11. : 3:32 pm]
NudeRaider -- If you think Windows is bad in that regard, try linux
[2021-2-11. : 10:49 am]
xBc_Naka -- yup good old windows, all right good night guys, thanks again for the help. Should be a fun project tomorrow.
[2021-2-11. : 10:46 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- " it's just a matter of getting windows to cooperate" as is always the case
[2021-2-11. : 10:45 am]
xBc_Naka -- Lol nah your good, I figured I would run into issues, just gotta jerry rig it tomorrow, wouldn't be the first time i've gone to rediculous lengths to get things I like to work on newer os's. Worst case I have a laptop running windows xp still. Just cheat and make it on that and move the file maybe haha
[2021-2-11. : 10:44 am]
xBc_Naka -- ya I think it's time to mess with this tomorrow already way past my bed time. And is turning into more trouble then I anticipated. Thanks for the help guys, seems like I have basically everything I need at this point it's just a matter of getting windows to cooperate.
[2021-2-11. : 10:44 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- i'm sorry my tools for a 20+ year old game are so outdated xd
[2021-2-11. : 10:41 am]
xBc_Naka -- ah ya looks like windows 10 has moved on to visual basic .net i'll have to figure out how to jerry rig the visual basic 6 install
[2021-2-11. : 10:40 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I have full on vb6/visual studio 6 installed on my w10, but I had to edit a disk file for it to work
[2021-2-11. : 10:40 am]
xBc_Naka -- the installer for vb6 requirest .net 1.1.4 apparently
[2021-2-11. : 10:39 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- vb6 was before .net though?
[2021-2-11. : 10:39 am]
xBc_Naka -- ah nope nvm requires a super out dated net framework
[2021-2-11. : 10:39 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- you'd need the vb6 runtimes no matter what
[2021-2-11. : 10:38 am]
xBc_Naka -- f it, just gonna install visual basic 6 and see what happens
[2021-2-11. : 10:36 am]
xBc_Naka -- hmm i'll try the other though and see, if nothing else maybe I can rip it from the run pack Farty posted
[2021-2-11. : 10:35 am]
xBc_Naka -- That is the file I downloaded originally Ultraviolet
[2021-2-11. : 10:35 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- maybe i should find a way to port all my old vb6 things to C, but that might just be a lot of effort
[2021-2-11. : 10:34 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- https://sfsrealm.hopto.org/downloads/RunPack1.html this has comdlg32.ocx, maybe the setup exe works in w10
[2021-2-11. : 10:33 am]
xBc_Naka -- ya I downloaded it, the file doesn't exist in the folder that is where I got the CTL file.
[2021-2-11. : 10:33 am]
Ultraviolet -- is there a VB 6.0 runtime fileset you can download and install or something?
[2021-2-11. : 10:32 am]
Ultraviolet -- It's a Visual Basic 6.0 runtime file apparently
[2021-2-11. : 10:31 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- ya, that's the problem with old programs especially vb .. I'm honestly surprised it works at all in windows 10 (and I assure you it *is* possible to get it working, I just don't remember how because I haven't done it in a very long time)
[2021-2-11. : 10:29 am]
xBc_Naka -- so now i'm scouring windows boards for an answer
[2021-2-11. : 10:29 am]
xBc_Naka -- no COMDLG which from everything i'm reading should have been auto fixed with the CTL issue
[2021-2-11. : 10:27 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- is it mscomctl.ocx?
[2021-2-11. : 10:22 am]
xBc_Naka -- well fixed that one now another system file isn't found this is going to be a long process it seems
[2021-2-11. : 10:18 am]
xBc_Naka -- once I get the comctl32 issue fixed i'll see it doesn't want to cooperate lol
[2021-2-11. : 10:13 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I also have mscomctl.ocx in this folder if it yells about that too
[2021-2-11. : 10:12 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- there's some run command or something to do it
[2021-2-11. : 10:12 am]
xBc_Naka -- Lol thanks, don't even have to google it for myself cause your on top of it.
[2021-2-11. : 10:12 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- http://www.mediafire.com/file/x3hfq02g9rpvhq0/comctl32.ocx/file i had this in my mapsketch folderthe
[2021-2-11. : 10:11 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- that's not an sc error ... i don't remember how to fix it, I usually just google it
[2021-2-11. : 10:10 am]
xBc_Naka -- hmm maybe I do need to install 1.16.1 still getting "component 'comctl32.ocx' or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered
[2021-2-11. : 10:09 am]
Ultraviolet -- it's funny, most people here don't actually make maps at all, but are super helpful :P
[2021-2-11. : 10:08 am]
xBc_Naka -- ya'll are life savers spent the last 4 hours trying to manually pixel art this image, this will save days of time lol
[2021-2-11. : 10:07 am]
xBc_Naka -- cool thanks Farty
[2021-2-11. : 10:07 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- if you actually want a 1.16.1 installation http://www.staredit.net/topic/17625/
[2021-2-11. : 10:07 am]
Ultraviolet -- or that
[2021-2-11. : 10:07 am]
Ultraviolet -- just google SCBW 1.16.1 download it's free
[2021-2-11. : 10:07 am]
xBc_Naka -- would work if I can find a safe download I suppose
[2021-2-11. : 10:07 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- https://www.mediafire.com/file/zm8e7otdu8bvl60/mpq.7z/file or here are some mpqs
[2021-2-11. : 10:07 am]
xBc_Naka -- ah shit is there a work around, I could just install old school starcraft from the CD I suppose but then I would need to get an external disk drive
[2021-2-11. : 10:06 am]
Ultraviolet -- you need to dl a copy of SC BW 1.16.1, it will have them
[2021-2-11. : 10:05 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- because sc:r no longer uses the mpqs, it uses casc instead
[2021-2-11. : 10:03 am]
xBc_Naka -- hmmm patch_rt and stardat don't exist in my starcraft install folder time to try to manually hunt them down
[2021-2-11. : 10:01 am]
xBc_Naka -- oh snap, that may be perfect let me give that a shot thanks. Don't need it to be exact I always edited it manually once picture mapper did it's thing.
[2021-2-11. : 9:56 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- HD graphics use totally different method of making the minimap and I haven't looked to see if it is consistent, but the SD graphics are the same
[2021-2-11. : 9:55 am]
Ultraviolet -- xBc_Naka
xBc_Naka shouted: That is a bummer, guess sticking with bland maps or lots of slow pixel art
http://www.staredit.net/sc1db/file/2409/ you can download it here, thx Farty <3
[2021-2-11. : 9:54 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Ultraviolet
Ultraviolet shouted: seems that the problem was that it expected those dependencies to be in the base SCBW folder and when remastered took them away, it messed it up
ya
[2021-2-11. : 9:53 am]
Ultraviolet -- seems that the problem was that it expected those dependencies to be in the base SCBW folder and when remastered took them away, it messed it up
[2021-2-11. : 9:52 am]
Ultraviolet -- just copy patch_rt.mpq, stardat.mpq, and broodat.mpq to C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft
[2021-2-11. : 9:51 am]
Ultraviolet -- oh I figured out how to get mapsketch working actually
[2021-2-11. : 9:20 am]
xBc_Naka -- That is a bummer, guess sticking with bland maps or lots of slow pixel art
[2021-2-11. : 9:19 am]
Ultraviolet -- I'm sure someone more savvy than myself could get something running
[2021-2-11. : 9:18 am]
Ultraviolet -- not that I know of, I can't get Farty's to work anymore. Shame, it was really good when it did work
[2021-2-11. : 9:15 am]
xBc_Naka -- is there any variant of picture mapper or similar that works with current remastered?
[2021-2-11. : 8:09 am]
Ultraviolet -- I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was confused by that question
[2021-2-11. : 7:02 am]
jjf28 -- cause ~all maps (including EUD maps) are MPQs with a scenario.chk file inside
[2021-2-11. : 7:01 am]
jjf28 -- RdeRenato
RdeRenato shouted: so it is impossible to make EUD maps in chk format?
either I'm not sure what your asking or "chk format" doesn't mean what you think it means
[2021-2-11. : 2:20 am]
RdeRenato -- so it is impossible to make EUD maps in chk format?
[2021-2-11. : 12:48 am]
Ultraviolet -- Teroneko
Teroneko shouted: Ahh okay. :) I will find it out. Thanks 'till here.
doing EUDs manually is a thing of the past in most practical applications these days, I believe. I'd highly recommend getting into EUD Editor 2 or 3. I like 2's interface better, but 3 is still actively updated.
[2021-2-10. : 10:00 pm]
NudeRaider -- Teroneko
Teroneko shouted: Dear god, why no one tells me about this? http://www.staredit.net/topic/14226/ xD
there's a reason it's pinned :P
