Draft version of the essay
Consider the main thesis. There are several ways to formulate a thesis. One of them is called a survey. To do this, you need to think about what you or your reader would like to know about the issue at hand.
For example, when writing a two-page essay on a topic that interests you, think about who will be reading you (and what explanations are needed), what to list first, and why the topic interests you.
A branch is another way of formulating a thesis. Present your theme in the form of a tree. Write the main idea in the center of the sheet, and then "branch" additional ideas and thoughts from it.
You can use brainstorming. Don't make corrections, just put your thoughts on paper. Once they see their ideas, they will begin to take shape. This often helps before writing a formal outline, as it will help you better understand your topic.
Write down the main thesis. The thesis is the most important part of the essay because it tells the reader what you will be arguing. In other words, it clearly and concisely explains what you are trying to convey. Without a strong thesis, your essay will be vague and overly general. A strong thesis indicates that you will use specific examples and read more to help clarify your thoughts. The thesis of a two-page essay should be precise and narrow.
Put your thoughts on paper. Having written the thesis, which is the "center of gravity" that guides all your work, start writing down all the other ideas. Writing a detailed competent plan greatly speeds up and simplifies the work. A plan is a great way to get your thoughts down on paper without worrying about how perfect everything is. The main thing is not to dwell on this stage, because your essay will develop and change as you write.
It is not necessary to draw up a formal plan right away. Brainstorming or listing ideas on the topic of work in no particular order will already give you an idea of what you will write an essay about.
By listing ideas in support of the thesis, you will understand how to properly structure them.
Give specific examples. A good essay consists of an introduction, body text, and conclusion. Theses are often signals of specific examples that you will use in your work.
It is useful to provide specific examples in the plan itself so that you know what evidence is available for each item. Also, you will immediately be able to notice possible gaps or excesses of the chosen approach. For example, one point is supported by one example, and the second point by three. It is better to use approximately the same number of examples for each point, or even include the weakest point in another part of the essay.
List your sources in the plan. This will save you time when writing your paper. Read the requirements for the list of references in advance. When in doubt, you should always check with your instructor.
One option is cross-quoting. In this case, you indicate information about the source in the text of the essay itself. There are different options for citing sources, so think about this part of the work in advance.
Sometimes you need to use footnotes or endnotes. This is not typical for short essays, but some teachers may insist on such a requirement. Footnotes or endnotes provide more information about the source. Often, if they replace cross-quoting, a bibliography page is not required.
