Replaces file with a new file. Useful to keep the file ID intact and the link more shareable. Very useful to fix file if new file isn't all too different from original. Disadvantages: Ratings might not be as applicable if bugs were fixed that made someone give it a poor rating. |
Posted by Chia-Tyrant at Jun 24 2010, 4:03 pm @Argotitan: Items will not have an impact on the storyline unless you find them all (4 relics and 3 or 4 gems of both type). *Spoiler* You can enter the second secret dungeon once you found the key in the second dungeon, then going back to the entrance. Instead of being brought back to the outside world, you'll enter the secret area. I think one of the relic is in it. Also, the ??? are always in dead ends, there's no point in "humping" everything.
Posted by Argotitan at Jun 20 2010, 6:28 pm God knows where that second secret dungeon is too. It's rather disappointing that the Icon of Lumina can't be used to break into the castle or that the Shield of Korozan can't be used to avoid being extracted.
Posted by Argotitan at Jun 20 2010, 6:22 pm Alright, I give up. One of the empty dead ends seemed rather odd despite no actual item being there, so I moved the menu just in case an ??? would get activated. Sure enough, one did, but the item it activated was just a regular gem, not the Balthazar relic. Graphics are nice, but I can't give this anymore than a 4.5, maybe a 5 on a good day. Hidden treasures with no clues are not fun to search for. That's work, and games are meant to escape from work. Being locked into telling the cohort your true identity is not fun either. It railroads the story into doom rather than giving the player the obvious option of being prudent with information.
Posted by Argotitan at Jun 20 2010, 5:46 pm OK, found the icon of lumina, but still no help.
Posted by Argotitan at Jun 20 2010, 4:58 pm One more thing. The game uses the old hump system from back around FF7. Move your menu (shuttle) to interact with objects (green and yellow). Also, meatwad seems to have explained the thing about ??? items. I guess you have to go back and hump EVERYTHING to find the secret relics required for the alternative ending after activating the ??? items.
Posted by Argotitan at Jun 20 2010, 4:26 pm About that door, there's a key earlier in the dungeon. Don't proceed to the point where there's a crystal and no way back unless you've gotten it. Also, I've gotten the Shield of Korozan, but it doesn't seem helpful in the battle either to win or pursue the alternative ending. Before the battle there also doesn't seem a way to prevent... the naive person from behaving naively, whoever you want to call actually naive. Dunno what the ??? items do either. Found two of them.
Posted by xDevilSpiritx at Jun 7 2010, 2:38 am Ah, that's nice to know, Chia. Thanks for the information.

Posted by yellowjacket at Jun 6 2010, 10:45 pm was cool, but I got stuck at a door that was locked, and there was no portal to go back. so never got past that
Posted by Chia-Tyrant at Jun 4 2010, 11:45 pm Thanks for taking the time to comment and review. It's greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, I haven't mapped in a little while and I don't plan on coming back to SC1 mapping in the near future. If there is a sequel, it would probably be on SC2.

Storyline: Alright. When I first started to play this, I cruised along. You start off as a God named Korozan, something related to that. Your other Gods want to destroy humanity because of their idiocy and monstrous actions, but you stood up for them and went down to Earth to protect them.
Gameplay: It's pretty good. Despite the fact that it's a little confusing to start off first, you get the gist of it later as you head along the game. The hallucination attack was a nice touch to the almighty God, Korozan. I'll head on to the details.
- There are monsters, easy to kill. Damaging if not careful.
- Dungeons were well-made, and challenging at some. The Scout Bounds were pretty fair. I thought they were a great addition to the dungeons.
- There are two endings. A bad ending and a good ending, as said in the description. Look around carefully. You might get something surprising.
- I found that the " ??? " were an excellent addition to the game, as they revealed hidden relics. You have to retrace your steps and look around everywhere. You may find something surprising and maybe even a special item.
- Even though it's short, it shows the flaws of humankind. I find the quotes said in the game true to the majority of humanity itself.
- Later on, you'll meet a wizard and fight him. After you win, you talk to him and he tells of a story. You then give him your stuff, and you take that character to explore instead. You'll remain that character throughout the game afterwards. [Just to clear up some confusion]
Bugs: All I could find was that the last boss fight. The line in the middle as the "bound" attacks, the scouts are off at the top. Other than that, that's the only bug.
Great RPG. I would play it to get both endings. As I got both of them, there's no replay value.
Storyline / Gameplay: 9/10
Hidden/Secret Stuff: 10/10 [They're pretty challenging to find. Keep your eyes looking!]
Replay Value: 4/10.
Overall Score: 8.8 / 10

Essence needs more sense....
Review by: Meatwad1355
-------I'm a bit confused with this RPG...
---It started off well, very artistically made which is a major plus.
-You could just play it through because aesthetically its just a nice UMS too look at.
-The story started off well and then it got really confusing and just plain weird....
-You start off as a God coming to earth to befriend humanity and prove to the other gods that human kind is worth saving. (They want to destroy it)
-Then you fight the first boss, and save his soul. You then become him???? and play against the god... very strange.. you should stay one character the whole game otherwise you lose depth..
-The ending for myself was fighting the God, then defeating him... Then game over, you killed the god and the other gods won the bet, destroy all mankind and then you kick their ass??? and you become a god.. yay?
--Bugs:(Had a maphack, picked up random items that didnt seem to do anything, Red Text labeled (???) dunno wat those were.)( During the last boss sometimes the middle explosion wouldn't go off in a straight line)
Overall it was a nice RPG, unique attacking, there aren't any spells or other cool upgrades, just moar health.
Dungeons were very well made, creative and interesting, i like the warp crystals and bounds those are very classic to the RPG genre that doesn't usually get fulfilled in SC.
The ending was bad, i tried going thru again and seeing if i did something wrong but everything seems to be as it should so that was disappointing.
Still a nice RPG, would recommend, wouldn't play again though. 7/10
Overall Score: 7.2 / 10
