IMO this is bullshit. Australians are so going to be f**ked over in this, Lets say cost U.S all up in total $150, is like $210 Australian dollars all I can say is I won't pay that for a game even if it a game I love.
Buy it online, you'll save money.

How much did you guys pay for Warcraft 3? (If you bought it..) I bought it for $69.99, and I also got the expansion for a similar price. Each had around 10 levels per race, which is like 40 levels each. Total cost is about $160, for 80'ish levels. Here you are/will/might be paying $180+taxes for 100+ levels, including free online, and a campaign editor? How can you say that that is not a deal?
They are saying that you get to play 36 levels for each race, for each game you buy. That is a great deal right there.

30 levels all as the same race in one go seems like it might get repetative, unless they are exceedingly creative with their mission design. "Epic" can become "epicly boring and drawn-out" if not handled carefully. I definately prefer quality over quantity any day, and often times, less really is more.

When they say 36 campaign missions. Does that mean:

Stage 1 -> Stage 2 -> Stage 3a -> Stage 4a -> Stage 5 ... Stage 36
Stage 1 -> Stage 2 -> Stage 3b -> Stage 4b -> Stage 5 ... Stage 36

With "If this happens, then this" missions?

I'd hope not, I hate hunting around for different endings and the like.

You might be just in it for the fun, but the real funs not in the campaigns. Most people find fun in the campaigns for the unveling of the Starcraft universe. And for them, 36 mission is <3<3hotsex.

Looks like I'll buy one for the multiplayer and wait a few years for the rest of the campaign to become cheaper.
If Blizzy gets greedy enough, they could make it so battle.net is only playable between same versions of SC2 (they said they'd be releasing a few new things each 'expansion'...). Then you'd have to go with what the majority does, which is probably buy it.

Somewhat related, I've got word that the SC2 AI is hardcoded just like sc's/wc3's, now.

So I am not going to be buying and definitely not modding sc2.

Show them your butt, and when you do, slap it so it creates a sound akin to a chorus of screaming spider monkeys flogging a chime with cacti. Only then can you find your destiny at the tip of the shaft.

Its hard coded, because you can adjust how the AI itself works.

Blizzard has announced that all three games will just tell the same story from different perspectives. That means the ending is the same every time. You learn the story after the first one, and then the only reason to buy the other two is so you can see the same story again.

So either way they act now will suck. If I can make a map featuring most of the units that are in the game, I'd have more fun making maps, but if they don't release new characters throughout the series, then the campaign will suffer. If I can't create maps with most of the units, then mapping suffers; I'm not going to make a map that could be made better in a year.
Personally I'd prefer them to have all the units be usable for multi-player maps from the start, so I wouldn't even really have to buy the other releases.

All of the units are available at launch. The expansions are only going to add more single player + bw-like unit additions.

Pardo noted that each release will be a fully fledged campaign, featuring 26 to 30 missions apiece. The celebrity World of Warcraft designer also noted that while the ending of each game will be set, the middle of the game will play heavily to player choice, allowing for branching storylines.

If it's only story, then a book or movie is more appropriate than a game. If the gameplay is repetitive, I might as well read a story synopisis online and be done with it.
