Yes starcraft in general is a great game. No one wants to wait any longer for Starcraft II.
The best features of starcraft probably include the sort of fast paced strategy in it that is matched by few other games (if any).
Basically, starcraft II is gonna pwn just like starcraft and broodwar did. yay go blizzard!
so what are those games that dare match
blizzard anyways???

None.
Age of Empires, I also played a fun game recently called Rise and Fall, and that was pretty good.

Well Blizzard consists of many genres...so your basically asking what game out there is better then one of Blizzard's games, right?
Personally I think that Blizzard made the greatest RTS's of all time. But as of MMO's, there are quite a few that can match Blizzard's like Eve Online or Guild Wars.
None.
As far as FPS's go, I'd have to go with Valve. Half-Life, Counter Strike, and Portal are my favorite FPS's, and Portal would probably be up there as one of my most favorite games.
IMO, Blizzard should be the only company allowed to make RTS's.

I've been such a fan of Blizzard, the only games I can really compare it to are Diablo and Warcraft.. These three are really the only ones I've ever played online as an MMOG (Is that an actual acronym?)
None.
yeah im downloading Age of Empires right now. Looks sort-of intresting if it is to be played like starcraft.
Eve online was a bit expensive for me (as I do not enjoy paying anything more than for xbox live) but that was quite the time consuming game out of all the MMo's that i've tried in my day (w00t 4 mill ISK).
I wonder what will happen to the
starcraft community when starcraft II is released
None.
Oh, forgot about Battle for Middle Earth, that was also a good one.
None.
Empire Earth's cool
.
Edit: Wtf! Look at the number of my shouts in my profile lol.

When it comes to RTS games, starcraft is the best IMO.
Warcraft3 is IMO its closest competition, but I think that game is better off with its custom games (besides dota)

Dota's fine, just the people that play it are usually just idiots (idiots as in jerks, not noobs).

I tried AoE2, and hated it.

Its also the only game with giant corporations sponsoring and broadcasting e-sports for starcraft.
None.
So starcraft is the only game that has e-sports broadcasts of starcraft?
Warcraft 3 does too doesn't it?

Let's get this straight. Your reading comprehension falls behind, and didn't get it quite much. I said Starcraft is the only game with
giant corporations sponsoring and broadcasting the game. But that doesn't mean WarCraft 3 isnt broadcasted... just without the huge corporations sponsoring them. PLAYPLE, a game network broadcasts War3. But thats about it. e-Sports broadcast a variety of games other than Starcraft, but you couldn't less see multiple teams with 'corporation' names slapped on it.
