Why is our DLDB so empty? Incentives should be created to get more files in. Like moderator privelliges for X Amount of quality maps/mods/files submitted. Personally, I'm not interested in doing it though.
None.
ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO
I don't know, people seem not to like it for a reason and just use another file hosting site.
In my opinion it's great and you shouldn't stop thinking not to submit something to the DLDB at all
But, moderator privileges are too much of a prize. It should be whatever IP had planned for the fully implemented DLDB but we've been focusing on that IP hasn't finished coding it and that prevents us to use it?
fuck you all

I'm not a fan of the layout. Information is not always clear. For instance, the search function. Say I type in "project miranda". Right in the middle of the page, I see, "No files with those terms", which leads me to assume it doesn't exist here. I easily overlook the "Include.Tags(
http://www.staredit.net/?p=database&area=browse&remove_tag=project miranda">project miranda)" at the top. However, if I click on that link, it doesn't actually take me to that mod or any mod with that tag. It just takes me to Mod Browsing.
Now, in the link, why does it have "?p=database&area=browse&
remove_tag=project%20miranda"? This is a very weird search engine, or it's just broken.
When viewing a file, the presentation of information and user options could use some work.

This, for instance, is just a big block of random information. It doesn't help the eye and, aesthetically, it's primitive.

The search function searches by tags, and that link you are talking about removes that tag from the search (you can search by multiple tags).

Use this search instead
http://www.staredit.net/download.php?area=searchIt's not very pretty, but I'm sure you could figure it out.
None.
The search engine searches by tags, meanwhile we are instructed not to use anything we would actually search for as tags. (author's name, map title, etc.) This pathetic excuse for a search must be corrected by IP immediately to search all fields and not just tags.
The way functionality is now, I can understand the underuse and underpopulation of the DLDB.
DLDB not even working properly for me so
None.
And the uploading system is buggy: it can't even generate the map image and get good dimensions

Why can't we use Yoshi's code? Or does that only work with latova?

Yoshi is no longer active, or no longer really cares about SEN/Maplantis. Not on his "to-do" list. (I asked him about a week ago, and I got that as a response.)

He's still alive, he's always on Steam.

Whenever I read the name Yoshi in relation to Starcraft, I think of YoshiCraft. They wouldn't happen to be one and the same by some slim chance, would they?
Yoshi is/was a mapper. Although he didn't dislike mods, he felt a mapping site was meant to be just that. Maybe he finally got tired of us sneaking camouflaged modding threads into the site, or he simply warmed up to the modding community.
Whatever the case, modding became accepted by Yoshi and became part of Sen and Maplantis and the rest is history. It would be very ironic if Yoshi and YoshiCraft had anything in connection with one another.... but you never know.

Coded for Latova. With a bit of effort it could probably be ported, but IP/Moose already have something that works and they probably don't want to toss it all away. SEN is not my site. I may have originally created it but the new SEN v5 I had very little to do with, so its not my say to tell them what to do.

I'm a little active. I'll read stuff from time to time (here I am, for example). I'm mostly coding Latova, Playing TF2, and School/Life. I'll be completely honest, when SC2 comes around I might do more things around SEN but for the time being I really haven't had the motivation to learn SEN v5 and code for it.

Unrelated.

I never hated modding, I more or less underestimated it's importance when it was one of those things that had lots of untapped potential. I never really gave it the respect it deserved until later.
It was one of those things where mapping and modding are sort of different and I originally was making a "map making" website, so I figured it didn't fit into my priorities. The modders however stuck with it and kept bugging me to the point where I realized there was a huge community growing right under my community that I was completely ignoring.

The DLDB may work, but it seems to work less than well. If you want to toy with it, be my guest.
