This handy creature is the report button and should be used, where available, whenever you feel that rules have been broken.

If you aren't a moderator, don't try to be one. The best way to fight a rulebreaker is simply to ignore them and report posts. Moderators may not always read every post in every forum they cover, so use the report function or otherwise notify them of any problems. Posting about it or in response to it rarely helps. If a moderator does not read every topic and sees that no reports have been filed, they may assume that normal discussion is taking place.

If you do respond to rule breaking posts, be careful not to break the rules yourself. Adding more flames will only make the fire going, in addition to putting you in the wrong. (thus making yourself a target for moderation.) For purposes of the internet, I would reccomend developing a thick skin and a sense of what really matters. For flaming back, think about whether or not you would be persuaded to stop flaming by someone telling you that you're a stupid flamer. While frustrating, you must realize your limitations and leave the heroics to those with power.

Last, keep in mind that moderation will not always agree with you. It is exceptionally unwise to flame and disrespect the staff and moderators. It is arguably the fastest and most effective way to earn a one-way ticket out of SEN. A reported post is not necessarily a rule-violating post. (translation -- reports can be filed incorrectly) If reported posts are found to be in violation of the rules, they will be dealt with. If they are not, those posts have as much right to be here as yours do, and you'll have to learn to deal with it. You don't have to like every other member, but you do have to get along.
