Ask LegacyWeapon, but don't go breaking into any protected maps from SeNers without their permission, or there will be trouble.
None.
It lets you open protected maps, that's it.
It's pretty much considered a crime if you use it, here or in any mapping community. As FE said, don't use it.

I am sorry but OSMAP rocks, unprotect anyones map you want, do anything to their map you want, so long as you leave the credit to them and you don't start telling people it's an unrigged version if you rigged it.

Someone arrest me then.
Don't listen to these guys. Do anything you want with OSMAP. Just don't steal maps and you're fine.

It is not a crime to use it. If you're going to debate about controversial issues like this, you can start by debating with actual facts and arguments instead of lies and propaganda that serve only your personal interests.

Protection partially corrupts map so that an editor cannot read it.
OSMAP brings a map back to its original uncorrupted state so that you can open it.
I love OSMAP.
Relatively ancient and inactive
It can be used to steal maps and ruin them, and it's much easier to do that then do it legitimately. Until OSMAP changed so that it would be harder to do it illigitimately, the majority of mappers consider it a sin to use this except when the map you're opening is your own or a changed version of your own.

No.
Blizzard specifically states that any .scm/.scx file belongs to them. In essence they LET us put our names on our maps, but legally we have no right to them as in the case of copyrights and such.
It was already stated when the original protection/unprotection debate was first brought up at v4. I assumed it was correct.
By the license agreements it seems you can do anything with maps except for selling them and/or everything involving real money.

This is not a osmap debate.
It is a "how does osmap work" debate.
Osmap extracts the .chk out of the file and then fixes the parts protection "breaks".

Quote from Mini Moose 2707
Sorry, I can't find ".scm" or ".scx" in the License.txt file.
"The Program also contains a Level Editor (the "Editor") that
allows you to create custom levels or other materials for your
personal use in connection with the Program ("New Materials"). All use
of the Editor or any New Materials is subject to this License
Agreement. The Program is licensed, not sold. Your license confers no
title or ownership in the Program." Search for editor, not file formats.

Hey, I never said not to use it, I said not to use it without permission from the person whose map you're opening.

Which is not what Excalibur said to do.
