I was playing 2v2v2v2 Hunters game. I decided to stack lurkers outside a terran player's base. I burrowed them and at the last possible second, when i had them grouped w/ a ling, I ordered them to hold position. However, it didn't work. Was that patched? (The bug where lurkers hold position and don't attac..allowing enemies to go right over them) How do you do it?
None.
You place the lurkers somewhere, burrow them, then tell them to attack an enemy building that is ridiculously out of range (doesn't need to be visioned, just have it in the fog at least), to make them attack just order them to "stop".
None.
It's not a bug, it's just a strategy, it require you to repeatedly press stop very quickly. Hold position will make a unit just attack what is near them without chasing them, and for a lurker which cannot move it will function as if you hadn't done anything.
None.
You guys are all wrong. You can't POSSIBLY press stop constantly. (unless you're a nub.
) The lurker must be selected with another unit, such as an overlord. The hold position command will become available, and once you Hpos, the lurker wont attack. You have to be careful when you will press attack for lurks, otherwise you will miss the chance and mostlikely kill one or two rines and get detected.
None.
Stacking lurks also isnt a wise idea. I mean, splash and you're dead...
And I beleive selecting Hold Position does still make units attack, so long as they come in range.
(Eg. If you select a Rine and an SCV to Hold Position, they will both hold. If any unit comes into the SCV's range, it will attack that unit)
None.

You won't suffer stack damage from yourself....
None.

I do it all the time in Uberena and TMA to suprise people, all you have to do is click the button
and hit 'S' constantly.

No, but two shots with a siege tank is an instant kill for all of them.
tits

Try it with lurker. It won't. Its your thought of a noob. You're a noob.
EDIT: I also think you're noob because you will say the same to cloaked ghosts with your noob example eh?

Its also used in melee too. When a player has to go up and down across the map and click a ton of hatcheries to make all of them have units producing within 1 or 2 seconds, then back down to where your units are and avoid them from death, make more supply depots so your unit count will never cease, expand, defend, and attack at the same time- when will you find the time to press stop constantly and taking a look at your lurkers for a while?
None.
I will test this theory and prove me wrong!
And cloaked ghosts on hold
DO attack units in range.
(Or was that what you were implying)
None.

All three of these work just fine, for clarification.

actually, attacking a fogged building out of range does not work, and lost me a recent game.

I tested it myself, worked just fine.
Maybe he lost vision of the building he ordered them to attack.

use a overlord, its better then using a attacking unit such as ling.. when you group the lurker with the overlord just press h and it will work
None.
