So, just want to put this bluntly, but who do you want to be our next president?


For me at this point, I really don't know. Initially i may be leaning towards Obama by a little bit, but being part of a colored state (red in this case) it won't matter who I pick because I'm pretty sure McCain is going to win Texas, just like how every republican candidate for the past 20 or more years have so far.

What about you guys?

Obama.

I do not want to go to any wars. I'm voting for whoever will keep us out of conflicts as much as possible and do something about the economy. So in all probability, Obama. Although, there are things I like about McCain. I am happy that this time we have two strong, interesting choices. The Bush/Kerry election felt more like picking a lesser of two evils. This time I feel like things will change for the better no matter who we pick, and I'm just trying to decide which one is more suited to my personal interests.

I'm canadian, but I would like to see Obama be the president. But would suck if what my grandpa says is true. "He's probably going to get assassinated, lots of racist people."

My mom also feared the same thing.

It depends, really. John F. Kennedy was assassinated by a former US Marine when he was only taking a vacation to Dallas, Texas. Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in a movie theater as he enjoys his leisure time away from work. And William McKinley was assassinated in Buffalo, New York in the building "Temple of Music." And lastly, James A. Garfield was assassinated shortly before his Summer Vacation.

All of the assassinations were vacation/leisure time opportunities, and the most likely vacation that Barack Obama will visit would be Illinois, New York and Hawaii. I doubt he would ever get assassinated in Illinois especially as a Senate of the State of Illinois and I also have doubts he would ever get assassinated around his birthplace.

Hopefully, Obama never gets assassinated, even through an attempted one.

Obama. 'Bomb, bomb Iran'? McCain's delusional. He has less emphasis on economy and more on war, much like Bush. He has an aggressive foreign policy at a time when most of the world hates Americans. (My favorite was him saying that he's going to uninvite Russia from the G8. I lol'd). His Lexington Project is idealistic at best. What, he wants to wage war with Iran while suffering from greatly increased oil prices (Iran exports a lot of oil) and, at the same time, moving to energy independence? He must think he has an infinite budget . Either he's an idiot, or he's trying to get votes by promising what he can't get. Either way, a waste of a vote.

Obama.. well, I like his foreign policy better and he seems to want to actually improve America rather then the rest of the world. He's less... delusional/idealistic than McCain is. He's also a great campaign organizer (it's been said he has the smoothest operation in 20 years or so, maybe more), so I think he'd do better as president.

Security measures are certainly a lot tighter nowadays, so any assassination attempt is much more likely to fail. Anyway, my image of Obama has been soiled just a very tiny amount in recent days. I've seen him quasi-pander once or twice, and I disagree with him on a number of issues (I believe that he disapproves of gay marriage, for example). However, he has managed to keep the greatest part of his presidential posture throughout all of these attacks, and he just carries himself well. I hate to use overused phrases, but McCain, to me, is just more of what we're used to. While Obama might focus on different issues with different groups of people and give himself a little bit of wiggle room in his policies (which I actually respect - I favor a degree of versatility in policies to meet different circumstances), McCain panders like a - well, if I write what I wanted to write, this post would get deleted. Increasing offshore drilling, refusing to enter diplomatic talks with countries he assumes off the bat to be our enemies, and trying to distance himself from Bush because it suits his political career more now than ever are just a few of the reasons why I cannot, on principle, support McCain in any fashion. Don't even bother to mention Obama's "flip-flop" on public financing. His given reasons for refusing public financing were clear and honest, and I respect his decision. I don't know if public financing is necessarily corrupt, but I feel that there is absolutely nothing corrupt at all from accepting $10 or $20 from working class folks and a maximum of what, $2300 from any individual? I would rather have a president who is versatile in policies when a better alternative presents itself than to a president whose policies are set in stone.

I thought it doesn't matter who we pick on election since multinational componies and other business men-groups controll countries not just one or two people picked by people who are designed to "serve" the "system".

im pretty fed up with war. what i want at this point is for every unit to be pulled out of action... so we can work on our economy, lol, America #1!!!

Wow, I sure hope the US doesn't vote the same as Senners do, Obama has no experience in politics, goes to churches where the preachers are all anti-american, and has all sorts of new laws he wants to set up that punish the people who actually do something with their lives in order to help those who do nothing but sit on their butts all day. And unlike the rest of you, I think that we should stay in the war, pulling out will hurt us more than it will help..

While McCain isn't that good of a choice either, he's better than Obama..

Ridiculous. A senate isn't enough? And most of the money were donations from Americans that have defeated Hilary Clinton's millions of dollars of self funding. The power to the people, basically.

I was planning on voting McCain, but I need more research on Obama. He seems to be a person that takes ideas from both parties and he isn't ALL democratic. He takes views on religion, economy, and war unlike most democrats.

Punish those who sits on their ass all day making money off other peoples work and award the general public. the iraqi goverment wants you to leave. It wouldn't hurt USA at all to pull out. as Iraq isn't and haven't ever been a threat to you.

I agree that we should stay in the war against terror. I rather be in war than be a sitting duck waiting for the terrorists to attack again. It's funny how most of the people who are against the war didn't do their research and most of them never had relatives who got killed in 9/11.

Can the people who would go for McCain explain to me the reasons for that, and possibly defend his foreign policy? I simply cannot fathom how a president would want to stay in Iraq and Afghanistan to the extent we are now. The US is very vulnerable - if a war started with Iran, as is possible before Bush resigns (though, most think he'll leave the Iran problem to the next president) the US will be very, very strained. It seems natural to me that after this exertion during the Bush years the next president would try to withdraw to build up waning American power again.

The war on terror is badly handled, relying too much on military force. US actions in the Middle East alienated many who were previously unaffiliated to terror organizations, and Al-Quaeda and other recruitment is still fresh, possibly more active than three years ago. Anti-US feelings, which were present before the Iraqi/Afghanistan war throughout the world, not only in the Middle East. Even people from the Western world, such as Britain and France, have begun joining anti-US terrorist organizations (though, most of these are Muslims). The Taliban in Afghanistan has recently been gaining momentum, with more soldiers dead in June than previously throughout the entire war.

Honestly.. I think that the War on terror is at best going nowhere.

War on Terror is a joke, seeing as CIA, the worlds largest terror organisation, is a U.S. Agency.

Allright throughout Obama's campaign, he's pretty much riled up younger ppl mainly with him being black. I was espiacally apalled with one of Obama's adds that said ONLY that he understood what young adults going through college have to put up with, debts and all. The add also said he was the candidate for our generation.

If I had to guess, I would say Obama is the anti-christ, and in 4 yrs, being the re-election, the world will end (lol). Look at him! What is it that riles everyone up to vote for him? Mcain actually has reasons for ppl to vote for him, as with Obama he's like: "Vote for me, I'm black and I dont wanna be in Iraq!"

Seriously, who would be a BETTER president, why the hell would obama be better than Mcain??
