As an Windows user, I wonder what people like better: Windows XP or Windows Vista.

Me, I like XP better, cause it can actually run on my computer. (1 GHZ processor, 256 MB ram. Do I need to say more?)

Vista has superior features and requires significantly better Hardware.

XP is more stable, runs on lower end hardware, and is significantly more scalable to hardware than Vista.

Even with some of the trouble I've had with Vista, it's really hard to go back and lose all the great features it has. I would not recommend using Vista if you are not a real computer wizard and want the latest and greatest stuff.

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO

I agree with Esponeo. Vista requires much better hardware than XP but overall I like Vista the best.
I have one computer running Vista and one running XP and I prefer to use only the Vista one.

fuck you all

I wonder what do you people mean by stability...
Vista has never done anything that I consider "unstable".
Well, except for the times I exceed the ammount of polys my graphics card can manage but that's not vista.

Really, Vista is more like a graphical intensive XP. Vista has some nice features XP doesn't. But XP is slightly more simple and chews up less processor power.

I have windows ME (Yes, the wretched ME) and were going to be upgrading...sometime. My parents are computerly inclined, and I would like to use it for gaming. Would Vista be a bad choice? And if we waited, how long do you think it would be til something new comes out? (Im pretty sure XP is off the markets...)

XP IS off the markets, more and more games are becoming Vista compatible. So, Vista wins.

Vista is great. The biggest pro for me is the upgrading browsing experience in documents and stuff. It's just a lot more intuitive and powerful by seeing a number of the most immediate root folders of the one you're looking at and being able to access them immediately. It certainly looks cleaner than XP with aero, but that shouldn't really be a reason for deciding to upgrade. Vista is a lot more stable now, and the only problem that I've had with it in the past several months has been... well, I can't seem to think of any stability issues that I've had with Vista itself recently.

May I add that when you download Vista, you rid yourself of the beloved Up One Level button.

Not exactly; it is just done differently. Instead of clicking a generic button for going up one level, you get a button with the name of the folder that is up one level (and often more buttons with more levels past that), and a button to show the rest of the levels that aren't in view. I like this change, because often I do indeed go up more than just one level.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, it is the bar that replaced the address bar in Windows Explorer (but you can still get the address bar by clicking a blank area in that bar). This bar also replaced another box in the open/save window, which was also a way to go up more than just one level at a time, but often would take a little while to come up once you clicked on it.

Dark, You may get the cracked versions, but still not the REAL one, the Real one is better than the cracked, And Vista>XP, And I have both. I like my Vista more.

Well, Vista renders everything, which is a really big problem. When Microsoft make Vista, they made an assumption that computers would rapidly get better. So they based Vista on that assuption. Naturally, for those with newer computers, Vista is a great choice. But for those with older computers that can't really handle the effects, XP is fine. I realize that you like Vista, and that's normal. A lot of people like it, but I just have an ancient computer, so I use XP. Anyway, I do actually like Vista a bit. I've always enjoyed its appearance. (Hard Honesty)

Well if you have great hardware that can work with vista go vista.
XP though is fine with me for my low end laptop =].

Most new computers are shipping with dual core processors and 2 Gb of Ram - more than enough to use Vista properly. It wasn't designed for older computers after all.

Vista is really great if you have the computer to run it. I'd say Vista because I'm able to enjoy all its features but would choose XP for the low end computers.
