Man, I remember Starport. I was 30th player, 8th corp, on the server on P4. :P 2 million xp, 200 million creds (max), 20k tokens (never bought with real money, all bought in-game),lotsa planets and nukes. Too bad the account has been deleted or I would give it all to you guys.

Anyway, the best way to make money on perma servers is barging. Most barging jobs of 1-20 hops will pay 500,000 - 20 million. I know I usually payed 500 000 per hop, and 1 mil if they were reliable and good at not dying. That's how you should start off. Once you have 10-30 million, find a spot as far from Starbases and major invading corps as possible, and build up and Earthlike, Desert, or Ocean planet. You will have to get 125 lasers and a solar cannon (rush it) before UN Time runs out. Once you have at least 1 planet that has a good layout and dome placement, with max lasers (125), smooth sailing from there. You shouldn't have much risk of getting invaded due to the location far away from civilization. Once you have a good amount of planets, you can start pumping out nukes, and the real fun begins. :D

Alternative way is to chain invade, once you have 20 mil or so (for nukes, shields, ship and grav or fusion), find an old, but populated planet with a crappy dome placement and domeslide it. Most really old planets owned by the better corps will have at least a few hundred nukes on them. Just use those to blow the crap out of the rest of the system, and bam, you now own your own system. My corp and I once invaded over 20 planets in a day this way.

However, people might hate you for this, so make sure you have some of the top corps as your allies. I played really hardcore, like 10 hours per day, so I was pretty much always around to defend my corp colonies from the corps I was invading.

Lol, the client won't give you viruses, don't worry.

moneylover, dying is very avoidable. Just build up a good reputation with your fellow players, and defend your planets with a good dome and laser placement and you won't lose your empire. As for in space, that all depends on how good you are at flying. I only ever died if I was 1v1'ing someone where it was agreed to be to the death. Oh, and if you want to make your name known on the servers, but not as a total dick, chain invading is not a good idea.

If you don't know how to domeslide, watch this and you'll learn fast. Moleman-Domeslides
actually watch this , LG.Storm is a god amongst men.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZJmcOK0QWk&mode=related&search=

If you ever need help, msg me. This makes me nostalgic.

haha hopefully he will but he will need to learn abut the Solar Cannon/Colonist demands updates.

Colonist Demands (this one is a pain):
Now colonists consume resources and if their demands are not met, the colony will starve.

Solar Cannon:
The solar cannon has been upgraded, now you can customize the cannon's firepower, however the cannon also consumes Metal Ore. This is what I am gonna base a strategy off...starve the colony of metal ore by cutting off supply lines aka the owners.

No, I won't be joining you, I left after those patches were implemented. It was a major reason for my leaving. It was possible to adjust to, but it made managing large empires almost impossible without buying tokens for fuel.

However, when I left, the consuming resources was not as large as a problem as one might think. You do not actually need to have some anaerobes, organics, medicine, and oil at all times. All the decreasing resources does is mean that you will have more of a negative population growth. But as long as you have a good enough planet that has enough morale and other pop boosters, you don't need all 4 resources. For example, a rocky might only need a few thousand anaerobes to stay at a neutral population growth, even if it has 0 of everything else. This means that not all planets need constant barging of resources to them. Things might have changed though, so that your colony dies when it has 0 of everything, but I doubt it, Toonces isn't thaaat stupid.

dwarthing you do know that many planets are self-productive, like the greenhouse which is the type we are building on now.

Mouse has a private colony, don't tell him I told you.

Sep 16 2007, 8:28 pm dwarthing Post #40

ooo, greenhouses are tougher to build up cause of the neg growth and lack of any useful resources aside from anaerobes, but they are a bitch to invade since the gravity slows down your ship.
