Like a person would carve a piece of wood to do that, I would guess.

He used his voice for the trumpet.

He probably uses lathes and other kinds of tools. You cannot archieve that result with a normal knife

I think the best part in those first few instruments were just how precise the tones were...it actually sounded like proper intervals. o.o
