I wanna know which UMS maps you guys think are the most played now..

And which ums maps are the most played through out time..

Can we make such list together..

I think for the most played UMS map just right now is:

1.Defence maps(God tower, bunker, sunken, turret, Tank, Maze, Marine, Nazi, Lurker, canon, ling, hydra, tarpit, a rare one Reaver def)
2.Tug of wars (Desert strike, Sandcasle wars, Nexus wars, spawn def/income def i recall playing smoe old tug of wars maps too, dont recall the names of them tho)
3.Risk
4.Impossible scenarios + team vs extreme cpu maps
5.Rpgs and special forces
6.Poker defence
7.Zone control maps
8.Lotr maps helms deep etc. (these maps has a fairly big community as far i heard)
9.Dota maps (temple siege-used to be played way more only few left who plays this, CHW, Dotx and more)
10.Zombie Games
11.Evolves maps (including bunker warz unrigged)
12.Cat and Mouse games
And bound+puzzle maps

other rare minigames

I believe Bunker Defense belongs in the top 10 currently

that is very true i even played alot of bunker def many versions variations they surely hosted alot like as much as turret def. how could i forget. But i think its rather new defence maps like not more than 5 years old kinda not sure so they will have a lower spot in the through out time list

Anything about Defenders of the Galaxy?

never tryid or seen that one hosted is it good map? i think its a raremap no? Its UMS map right?

link me where to download it and ill try it sounds like worth trying at least one time

Damn i forgot about poker defence which have been and still is played alot.. indeed a good map i think

I feel like I've seen a good amount of Tarpit Defense.
Also, I don't think I see them anymore, but there use to be a lot of Mass Style Maps, (specifically Marine Arena, Zone Control, and Halo style Mass).

Also use to see Custom Hero Battles alot as well as the occasional Battle Arena (We are Friends, This is Anime!, Omega Fighters, with This is Anime! by far being the most popular of the three). I do agree Desert Strike was probably the most popular maybe followed by 16-way defense (was that sunken defense?). Poker Defense was also pretty popular as well as Amazing Spire Defense. Siege Tank Defense (and Dirty Siege Tank Defense) were fairly popular too. Most of these maps I didn't really play excluding Temple Siege and the occasional Hero Arena. Worth mentioning that Bounds were pretty popular back then too but there wasn't really 1 specific type of bound.

Couple others were:
- Cat n Mouse (Ultralisk as cat vs Probe as mouse)
- Hero's Path (RPG where you pick a unit and just walk to the end killing stuff for money to get better stats. No abilities on said heroes)
- Mini Town Defense
- Racoon City series (occasionally)
- Undead (one person plays a zombo while others as scv/probe. Basically a Cat n Mouse style but with zombies)
- Bunker Warz
- Marine Arena

Wow yeah you so right Custom hero wars CHW i count as a dota styled map like temple siege tho so they go under the same game type but in total CHW and temple siege there was actually also a lotr hero wars map that goes like a dota map kinda (which i was part of making the lotr hero wars 6.0) prolly other dota styled maps i know nude raider made the dotx map which is pretty nice too so dota maps prolly need a higher position..

But Zone control have been and is still is played alot very true. i recall the zone control where you had the zealot in the middle to control mass, and players where in control of 4 ghost on the field and had a bunker as home point that one was really nice zone control actually.

Cat and Mouse have been played alot through time i dont really see it hosted much today tho is really rare but indeed a very popular map with many variations it surely has to be on the through out time list.

Bunker wars unrigged i think its called i see occasoinelly its still played rarely i dont think it have been played alot ever its always been in the small amount. but it can come on the list in the bottom.

Racoon city, mini town defence zombie games are also only a rarely hosted maps i think but they shall be part of list if we count all zombie maps they surely been hosted abit.

With todays korean ghost special maps beeing rarely hosted but they are actaully really nice made with crazy layout etc. but i kinda never see em hosted they might be too hard to play for most players i think. (i dont know what map category i would put these ghost maps in)

Heroes path is part of Rpg maps on the list rpgs are surely played today still and trough out time but not alot i think not. with all the rpgs types and the rpg community is keept alive at least the player "alykzandir" is keeping the rpgs alive today

And bounds maps shall not be forgotten aswell they rarely hosted but i surely see em sometimes pretty sure there is alot of them.

Maybe i should put defence maps in same category(sunken turret tank marine etc than they would prolly top the list)

Tarpit defence is very very rare i see that today but i actually played tarpit a fair amount my self so yeah trough out time its surely part of the list. In total if you count it as a defence map together with other defence maps these truely top list by a fair deal.

Inearly forgot maze in the defence maps section.. how could i forget that one.

Oh, if you have the 1.16.1 brood war, its in the scenario folder. You already have it!

I dont think blizzard preplaced any UMS maps in the sc folders.. but not 100% sure

Deception, Mercenaries I/II, Zergling Round up, Race of Death, Defenders of the Galaxy, Zerg Soccer, Friends '98, Bazaar, Firing Line, Wakka Wakka, Zoo Keeper...

Yeah those maps are UMS cool i learn something today .. but these maps are never hosted on servers at least... or its more than rare i ever see em hosted.. but yeah even if they not played they should have the last spot on the list indeed.

I dont have the zerg soccer map intrested in looking that one up you have dl link? neither i have mercenaries or deception, race of death friends 98, bazaar, firing line. the other ones i have. I have few others instead lke old faithfull and more.

Also those UMS seems rather very simple blizzard might have used 1 hour to create all of them maybe. at least those i opened had less than 20 triggers. That said simple maps can be fun too, but too me those maps seemed too striped for stuff to do (one of the maps only had the goal to harvest minerals fastest first to 5000 mineral wins and had like 1trigger without any location etc)

I think those maps not in the "scenario" folder may (some of them are from the names you've given) be those offered in download on http://classic.battle.net (the "Download all StarCraft Maps (21 MB)" link that appear on plenty of pages (I was on http://classic.battle.net/scc/OS/motm2000.shtml#firingline ) without necessarily containing the maps on said page

I'm not seeing on the list any special forces, nor 5v3 CPUs kind of maps

That was a cool UMS map indeed, I got some Space Invaders/Missile Command/Atlantis vibes from it, back in those days. I always would have liked to incorporate a similar concept into a custom campaign, but it would be difficult to justify a similar scenario in terms of narrative design.

Those should be added too they are indeed played alot both of them

you can tell stuff about them explain the custom games if they very rare. i think theres many custom games i havent listed but the most popular ones are here i think.

id be happy to hear about some of the rare custom games you want added to list cahek
