Additional Story Series part 2 - The Praetor's Fall

Greetings all, I want to show you my custom map "The Praetor's Fall".

Note: the map works on 1.16 and Remastered!

Why part 2? Do you remember "Fury of the Swarm"? http://www.staredit.net/topic/18023/
This is part 1.

Story:
The story takes place during the third episode.
Gorn, by the will of the Overmind, must destroy Fenix
in order to prove that he is worthy of resurrection.

Forces:
White Zerg - Gorn's Brood (player).

Blue Protoss - Fenix's Forces (enemy). The main enemy, which
must be destroyed by the will of the Overmind.

Teal Protoss - Fenix's Forces (enemy). Fenix.
The price of his audacity is life, take it away.

Idea:
The mission is based on a map from 1 mission 3 episode.

Btw, I noticed an error in the readme file: you wrote "Horn" instead of "Gorn".

Just a glitch in the Matrix

I finally got to play this. I like the idea of reusing the "First Strike" map, others may say it's a lazy design choice, but not me. It gives the opportunity to revisit Antioch and play a familiar map from a different point of view, which is quite cool in my opinion. Gameplay was nice, just like in your previous map "Fury of the Swarm". I still think that you should find a way to join these maps into a mini Zerg campaign, but they work fine as standalone missions too. I found it strange that you decided to save this map in SCX format, since it's clearly conceived for the original StarCraft, but it's ok as long as you disable Brood War units and technologies, which you correctly did. Briefing and dialogues are simple, but they do their job.

The limited tech tree is a good idea, given the setting of the mission and story, but you begin with all available structures already built, so all I had to do was to morph a Lair and an additional Evolution Chamber to speed up my upgrade process: probably you should remove something from your initial base setup (maybe the Evolution Chamber, or the Hydralisk Den) so the player has to effectively build something by himself.

I think that you should probably reduce the initial amount of resources, because 1000-1000 seems excessive (500-500 should be ideal, in my opinion). The resources available on the map are more than adequate, maybe they are even overabundant, especially gas: your starting geyser has 6000+ gas, making it unnecessary to conquer an additional one, since you don't need that much gas to beat this mission.

Nice map, Alex. I hope to see more of your "Additional Stories" in the future!

I set myself a task: find Blizzard's maps that are suitable for additional stories.
Also, I wanted to understand for myself if I could use the standard maps for this? I managed to do it.

This is not a campaign, this is a pack as Stukov or hidden missions.
Moreover, I want to make the missions with Terrans and Protoss. (I have the ideas, but I haven't the time for this)

I made the map in SCM format (you can check rus version for classic, there is SCM format), but when I resaved it, I was only offered a SCX format. I do not know why this is so.

This makes sense: when you play as a Protoss (episode 3, 1-2 missions), the Zerg only have Zerglings, Hydralisks and Mutalisks.
Fenix destroyed the Cerebrate in the 2nd mission, this weakened the white Zerg, after which, at the will of the Overmind, they came to take revenge, but they were weaker than in the second mission of the 3rd episode (no mutalisks).

At the moment, one map is in development, but I have 2 large projects on the agenda. Testing maps (you saw the video and you can offer something of your own for testing) and interview (maybe you haven't seen the videos).
After these projects, I will continue to make the map and update the 2nd map, if I do not forget and will consider it necessary.

The Curious

I only just got around to playing it and it's a pretty fun mission. I've never been much of a zerg player but somewhat warmed to that race since starting the "Counterstrike" mission for my current project. Here we have a chance to indulge in a degree of all-out low tech fun with nothing but zerglings and hydras.

Took me 22 minutes to beat this mission. I didn't remember how much casualties I took but it was, in true zerg fashion, a lot. :)



Trial and error... mostly error.

Perhaps if you had played longer, there would have been more losses, because protoss is not limited in technology.
