Finally done with this major update desert strike classic2020 v4.5 ready to be played.

Heres the changelog from version 4.4
-Turrets price increased from 1215 too 1255 (there was an issue with turrets beeing too good at start vs zerg, at this price they will still be good)
-sunkens spawn changed from 1,75 inf.terran + 0,5 inf.duran too 1,20 inf.terran + 0,5 inf.duran with a max on 18 sunken colonys (there was an issue with mass sunkens in Z vs Z battles)
-added Indicator for when your income is boosted 25% (tested and working)
-fixed the crashed norad delay timer wasnt always removed when you had 0 delay
-changed the gas levels price. nukes did cost 1500 minerals/1000gas and each level needed 1 nuke to upgrade, now each level increase in price. nuke price is now 600minerals/600gas. lvl1 cost 1nuke to upgrade. lvl2 cost 2nukes to upgrade. lvl3 cost 3nukes to upgrade. lvl4 cost 4nukes to upgrade. lvl5 cost 5 nukes to upgrade. (this increase the strategy output on nukes. making it weaker to just nuke full if enemy is rushing to win game. so the higher lvl you get the higher effect it will have on your build to reach a new lvl)
-changed the gas income from lvl 0=12 gas, lvl 1=15 gas, lvl 2=18 gas, lvl 3=22 gas, lvl 4=28 gas, lvl 5=35 gas too lvl 0=3gas, lvl 1=4gas, lvl 2=5gas,
lvl 3=7gas, lvl 4=10gas, lvl 5=15gas. (this makes even the low lvls have high effect-goin from lvl0 to lvl2 nearly doubles the speed but will stil be slow, goin from lvl0 to lvl5 is 5 times the speed which is huge difference so gaining gas lvls will still indead be a good tactic if the game goes long).
-added gas delay timer, when you reach a new gas lvl all your gas is stored in a background pool and gas income starts acting as a timer counting down to 0 when your gas delay is over all your stored gas in the background pool is given back to the player. (this took alot of triggers to do but is definately an nice improvement)
-specs prices now increase in cost per usage. specs did cost 6kgas now first spec cost 6k gas, second spec cost 7k gas, third spec cost 8k gas,
fourth spec cost 9k gas, fifth spec cost 10k gas, sixth spec cost 12k gas, seventh specs and above cost 15k gas. (this took alot of advanced triggers to do adjusting all refund on specs to increase, triggers for refund on double spec, triggers for refund if not enough gas. this change will add strategy in using gas lvls so that it weakens the high gas lvl and strengthens the low gas lvl. in other words rush wins strategy is stronger, but also long game with lots of specs from both teams makes need of high gas income. it also makes the total amount of time between making new spec longer when having fired a few specs)
-while doin this price set in triggers a cancel spec is now way cheaper which make players need to fire and cancel specs more often. more strategy to a spec war
-added two pages of guides to the infested command center. a page with mineral describtion and gas income description is added. there is now a total of 19 pages in the infested command center.
-corrected a several text messages given to players
- improved the detectors movement, did several test setups to find the best method to improve this. some of the detectors centering on a cloaked unit will now fly upwards and down in cycles. it looks really good its not 100% static but if you have 3 observers most of the time 1 observer will move upwards and 1 will move downwards and 1 will stay in center. im satisfied with this improvement looks promising as what i was asked to do was to spread out the detectors and thats not easy to control each units in that manner in a static way but the result is good.
thats about it. was alot of changes

After testing this a few times i found i forgot to adjustleaderboard for the new gas system meaning that you cant see enemy amount or level on gas. At first i just thought fixing this would be best but than i thought of adding a brief vision powerup to the players, as terran can already scan for free i wouldnt make it cost alot - to make it fair towards race diffrencies is why i made it cost 10minerals. This vision you can buy dosent detect cloaked units it only gives you vision on enemy bases which is whats its supposed to do. To check if enemy players nuked while leaderboard is not showing it. Ive added 3 of these vision powerups for the teams fully same as the booms amount. to prevent your race to be shown at start before you made spawns i made it only work after 2 minuts is passed that way your race cant be checked from the beginning so you can hide your first spawn for the enemies.

I also experienced that gas increase was abit too fast when making nukes over the enemies not doin nukes so i wanted to change the delays on each gas level abit up.

Version 4.6 had minor bug on the nightvision powerup unit thats fixed in v4.7

Changelog v4.5 too 4.7
Added 3 brief Nightvision powerups that cost 10minerals to use for each team. (cannot be used before 2minuts is passed)
Changed gas level delays from level 1=25sec, level 2=30sec level 3=40sec, level 4=60sec, level 5=90sec too level 1=30sec, level 2=40sec, level 3=60sec, level 4=80sec, level 5=100sec

Tested this new gas system since v4.5 and i find it really increasing the strategy output which is really nice. You really gotta choose your moves on the gas lvl more wisely now both in the low end at beginning where it has effect on your mineral build aswell as late game. it definately favors a rush win in the end goin full gas lvl is only good if the game goes long. I like this system really strategial needs higher lvl of right choices and timings cause when you reach new gas lvl your suffer from complete cool dwn on your gas.. that part adds strategy to your gas lvl moves making it harder to save up gas and add gas level if not having booms left that enemy can spec without you beeing able to counter, even if you have 1 boom its still hard to upgrade gas lvl. adding silo gas delay also affects this gas cooldwn which also adds strategy entry points of beeing pushed than spec first and upgrade gas lvl when silo blows. good way to do a comeback vs players upgrading gas lvl. The improved detector movement is also nice and the added indicators last but not least the sneak peak powerup is great for sneaking on enemies to check how good or bad they are i like that.

Heres a replay of fight with lots of comebacks cant say all players evenly pro but its a fair game. its also a prove on a push win means more than nukes at this point. if the game had whent on for longer time the gas lvls that the bottom had (bottom lvl 3 vs top lvl 0) would been good for them. the game ended to fast for the bottom teams gas upgrades to be good. great game a clear vision of the improved strategy measures. Also brown had 1 free spec from orange cause he left the game after he did spec, gave brown a slight higher win fast option, cause bottom team lost a boom on oranges spec. but i believe orange left cause top had been pushing for a long time and then bottom team suddently makes a comeback was too much for orange player i think. id say if orange had not left bottom team would have won the game on upgrading special speed. Compared to the earlier gas system its much harder to increase gas lvls without it causing effect on your spawn and it takes longer for the increased speed on the gas upgrade to pay off.

had a fight with better players this game all players reach full gas speed except one player reach lvl 4.. also good comebacks in this one.

Im correcting the spec building progress to react instant on prices.. this i didnt do in the first place cause i didnt have 12 locations to use for detecting spec buildings progress.. now i freed 16 locations from beeing used took some time to free those cause had to rework another system instead where they was used. But now i can make specs react instant on players akkumulated gas income will be way better feeling to do specs this way. Im probaly gonna be done with this by the weekend cause i have other work to do also and its abit advanced to add for all spec prices all players all races.

Im finally done with updating this new gas system. i had to do alot of work to free some locations in my map to be able to detect when a building is in prpgress so that specs prices when build will react instant without this it didnt feel really good when u made spec buidlings the price was kinda delayed.. now it all works as it should all refund on specs work all double spec refund works all uneven games refund works all cancel spec works all not enough gas to make spec works now its really good everything else is keep the same. so theres not really any changes other than that the spec prices react instant instead of beeing delayed a much better feeling when u play.

heres desert strike classic v4.8 now version is fixed but theres some version 4.8 out there which is bugged so ill change the version to 4.9 soon when im 100% sure theres no bugs left in 4.8

this is my final update on this unless any major bugs are found. Hope you will enjoy it cause i used alot of time to make this work good. I think trigger amount in the map was like 1600 before i made this new gas system and now its above 2000. thats alot of advanced triggers i made last two weeks

Also fixed the pylon bug was given to wrong players at the latest bug find. should be fixed now

Finally done with this version 4.8 took some time to fix the occouring bugs from detecting building progress but ive tested the map all day and it really works good. i did release a few v4.8 which is bugged with the release date 18november in describtion.. this final fixed version 4.8 has release date 22 november so if you get a version 4.8 with release date 18 november its bugged and youll have to download the fixed version from here again to overwrite your bad file.

Since i did a few versions of 4.8 to test stuff there is several bugged versions 4.8 floating on starcraft. so i choosed to update my latest version 4.8 fix. this version 4.9 and latest v 4.8 is fully same but its more clear to see its a good version by hosting v4.9

Found a small rare bug on terran lifting buildings at timer 0 in v4.9 and v4.8. pretty sure this bug is also in previus versions

Also found a bug on specs in progress at timer 0 if upgradet gas lvl

i fixed both these bugs in version 5.0

and i increased sunken colony limit from 18 to 20 else version 5.0 is fully same as 4.9 and 4.8.

There still appears to be a problem when destroying buildings for refund for Zerg and Protoss right after the timer hits 0 and you don't get refund.
Also, can you add a mechanism when Terran lifts the building and if it goes out of base, then you can get the money back? Also ok if you decide to not include since no user should be doing that anyway.

Can you also explain the refund rate when you cancel in middle of the spec? I don't mind the sequential increase of the spec price, but what I don't like is that you get a price increase the next time even if you cancel and never end up using it.

there shouldnt be a problem with refund at 0 since buildings is invisible at this time i find it weird if you can kill buildings at 0 and no refund maybe you can show it in a replay? Maybe if you keep hitting attack to try kill the building while its owned by neutral its possible. but if you click attack on the building at like 1-3 sec than the worker stops the move cause building is invisible. probaly if your fast enough to hit attack on a neutral owned is possible for the refund not too work. but than your kinda trying to not get refund is not something that would happen unintentually like in older versions.

yea lifted buildings out of base is removed by trigger and is not adding up to the refund triggers i dont think i need do triggers for all terran buildings flying out of base since players not supposed to do that it would be unessecary triggers as long as you cant fly buildings out its good.

the refund rate on cancel spec is full minus the loss on cancel a 1000 mineral building. im not fully sure how much is refunded when you cancel a building. but in this the spec building cost 1k gas and than spec price is substracted in trigger, when you cancel it you get full refund on the trigger price. So if spec is 6k you get like 5000+1000-loss on 1kbuilding= aprox 5800gas i think back when cancel. so loss on cancel is very small making it tactical good to trick opponent into doin spec first.

about the price increase on spec when cancel i made all adjustments for that. So that if you cancel a spec the price of spec wont increase. So if your making a spec cost 6kgas it says next spec cost 7k thats only if you dont cancel it, if you cancel the spec at 6k your next spec will still cost 6k ofcourse. Anything else would be bad. Thats one of reasons that i had to make so many triggers for this spec increase system, cause i needed to adjust refund in uneven game, cancel spec, double spec refund, not enough gas for spec refund (for 6k gas price, 7k, 8k, 9k, 10k,12k and 15k+). this was abit advanced and took alot of triggers to do but all is adjusted and working really good.

thats also the reason i texted the msg when you spec "If you do this spec your next spec will cost 7k gas" instead of "your next spec will cost 7k gas" so players will/ or ca n know that its only if the do the spec that the next spec will cost the texted price

Been playing the newest rev of Desert Strike Classic 2020 v5 and enjoying all the improvements, bug features and newest enhancements! Thanks pete_tong for all your time spent all these months keeping us entertained during covid!!!

I like the newest gas enhancements the most as i think many players are finding out that fast gassing is not as helpful in their tactics against some players, which make strategy against stronger players a must!

Vary nice map! By far the best of Desert Strike map :thumbup: it put other like DSN to a shame. Pity that people do not use “combine spawn” option more.
Triple race a is nice option but is only for pros :lol: who can handle all three races.

I can attach the game we had a couple days ago.
You can go straight to the last part of the replay where I've destroyed the greater spire but didn't get the money back.
I'll try to find more replays for Protoss buildings - it still happens to me a lot more often that I would like to see.

I'll pay a closer attention the next time I spec and cancel.
I was remembering when canceling the first spec (which would've cost me 6k if I proceeded), I couldn't go ahead for the second time (or the real first proper time) until I had 7k gas which I thought the spec price increases no matter what, but I'll verify.

Arh yeah i saw it. not sure if it would cause problems to fix this but i think i could fix tho its mostly not a problem especialy not in start game where the spawn cyclus is fast. If you take a closer look on when you kill the building greater spire in the end youll notice thats its owned by neutral in bottom team its neutral yellow building. when player spawn cyclus is turning on buildings are set invinsible at 2 sec and vinsible again on the last building in spawn cyclus to prevent you from killing the building at 0. but theres this short room like really short time inbetween buildings are set invisible and vinsible where you can actually kill the neutral building which will cause the refund to not work. a way to fix this would be setting the buildings invinsible for a longer period on the spawn cyclus with the timer but cause i need one set point. the set point im using now is when 0 buildings left in the spawn cyclus making this tiny room for the refund not too work. if i used timer instead buildings could be on map max be invisible for a long period i dont think that would be good neither( like if i set buildings vinsible at timer 1 min than on map max timer goes at 1min+30sec sometimes) than you wouldnt be able to kill buildings for 30 sec idk if that would be better. its cause i need a point in the map where i toggle the buildings vinsible and not vinsible right now im using the end point in spawn cyclus which gives you this tiny time hole to kill the building to not get refund. I think it would be best if you try not to kill buildings at timer 0 as best as possible at least try not to kill the buildings when they are neutral in bottom case its yellow in top case it green. im pretty sure its not that easy to hit the building to not get refund but since its possible it would be best to wait refunding buildings to the spawn cyclus is passed and all buildings again is yours

but yeah could be something i could figure out a way to do properly in an future update

There is a replay that could've been a great game, but mostly marred by an apparent bug that processed as if I had built a Nydus Canal.
You can take a close look after the 1:02:00 mark where I have never built the Nydus Canal, but I got a couple of consecutive notifications that I need 12,000 ores and 15,000 ores to spend for the next spec.

On an unrelated note, does the spec increase by 1,000 minerals or does it increase more after the 10,000 mark?
